NPR - photoshop DIY invite (**UPDATE** my first project w/ pic)
I would like to make postcards for my DH 30th Birthday celebration. First question is, can I print them out at home? Can I send them somewhere? Below is a photo of what I want to do. Can someone help me please. P.S. I have photoshop, but have no clue how to use it! Image Attachment(s):

I just had Xmas invites printed out through Vista Print and I'm now a HUGE fan of theirs!
For this one, it's all layers.
Open a new document, roughly 5 in. x and 7 in. and a resolution of 500 ppi and color mode rgb.
1st layer is a blue background.
2nd is a small black rectangle. Create a new layer and then use the rectangular marquee tool to make a long box. Edit>fill with black.
Layers 3 and 4 are the same thing but smaller white boxes.
From there on in, you have text layers. I would do the 3 as its own number and the 0 as its own so that you can move them around.
Save as a jpeg and upload to wherever. Be sure to leave room on the sides in case any company you upload to has to crop away some of the edging. So don't place words or images too close to the edges.

WOW...thank you soooo much!
As vfar as Vistaprint.....I also use them, but they sell the postcards in packs of 100 - I only need 40!!

Winkflash...upload it as a 5x7 photocard and you'll get the envelopes with it.

The font looks like Century Gothic to me. Not sure about the one for the numbers.

You can go as big as you want. In the font size box, highlight the # and then type the number you want.

I DID IT...well this is what the final outcome is. I am soooo PROUD of myself and many THANKS to all of you. This was my very FIRST "anything" with photoshop and it wasn't that difficult and now I'm addicted....
Any suggestions? Too many words?

I think you did a good job. Personally, I think the blue is too bright! And I would maybe move the thirty down a little so it goes over the lines.

Great job! It is addicting, isn't it!
I do agree with Michelle...I'd tone down the blue a bit. Also, I'd make Adam bigger and maybe the same font as the 30. And don't forget an RSVP.
