NPR: Our own Christmas Movie

So this morning we woke up at 6am to the sound of our Christmas tree that had fell over & crashed to the ground. Luckily none of our ornaments were broken, I don't know how that is even possible. The back story is that when we went to cut down our own tree DH picked this monster of a tree. Well we got home & it didn't fit we had to cut more than one should have to off the top. Then two weeks ago we went away for the weekend & the tree dried up. We had to take it down to make a clean cut. Well this was the third & final strike. So we took all the ornaments off, and the lights, and carried that sucker out to the dumpster still in the stand. We couldn't get it to stand back up straight. It was sad. I started crying like a baby & DH thought that it was funny. It was like a scene from some bad Christmas movie. DH & I carrying this tree outside in the stand while it is barely light out. Oh, and in the snow storm that we have down here in DC. I felt like I was in a National Lampoons Movie. I am just so glad none of our lenox ornaments or glass were broken. It was such a mess our dining room area rug is soaked, and it is taking forever to dry such a mess. Next year I am making DH tie it to the wall. When the snow stops DH promised to go find me a charlie brown Christmas tree.

ugh! glad nothing broke. the tree is easier to replace.. sorry you had to go through that though

You can get a new tree!!! It will feel even more like Christmas with the snow on the ground, when you get a new tree. I'm sure it will make a great memory for you and DH!
