NPR-PCOS Mommies
If you've been over to the Health Board you've seen that Ive been having some issues.
One thing that keeps coming up...and has always come up is whether or not I have PCOS. But b/c I dont have fertility issues that idea is quickly dismissed by my doctors.
I guess Im just trying to touch all bases in trying to find a diagnosis for me...
Does anyone have PCOS and not have fertility issues?
TIA

Re: NPR-PCOS Mommies
My PCOS was actually caused by another problem in my body. Once they worked on that problem, my PCOS righted itself. I knew when they first gave me the diagnosis that it wasn't right. I had regular cycles the first 27 years of my life. I actually knew to the hour when AF would be coming. Typically, PCOS shows itself in the teen years. (If it's the only 'problem' in the body.)

Re: NPR-PCOS Mommies
well it took 8 months, injectables and 3 iui's to get pg with josh even though i ovulated on my own (my re said i was "unexplained"). but this time i got pg on my own on the 1st shot.
so i think it is def. possible to have pcos and no major fertility issues. it's kind of a spectrum disorder ya know.

Re: NPR-PCOS Mommies
Unfortunately, I have alllll the issues that come with having PCOS--including the fertility issues.
The best way to know for sure is to request the bloodwork. They'll need to look at things such as your levels of LH, FSH and Prolactin. A lot of people overlook this next step, but have a glucose tolerance test done as well--PCOS and insulin resistance very often go hand-in-hand. An internal sonogram can also help to see if you have the classic "string of pearls", though not all women with PCOS have this.
Even if your Dr. insists you don't have it, you still have the right to request the workup. Good luck.

Re: NPR-PCOS Mommies
I have PCOS and no fertility problems. It is possible to have it and not have problems conceiving.
But looking at the symptoms you posted it sounds like it could fit. PCOS presents itself differently in every person. I have a bunch of girlfriends with it and we all have different symptoms.
Don't let the lack of fertility issues sway you - I would do some bloodwork and they'll be able to tell right away. I think its the testorone levels........don't remember.
www.soulcysters.com is a great site for extra info on PCOS.

Re: NPR-PCOS Mommies
I was diagnosed with PCOS several years ago - and I have had every symptom, EXCEPT fertility/ovulation problems....I cycle every month...but all of the other symptoms are there full force...so yes, it is possible.
