They believe they hacked into the icloud storage of the accounts and pulled them from there.
Ive seen a few of the jLaw ones on Reddit and OMG....these poor women. How awful to be exposed like that. But lesson learned, do NOT keep your personal photos on a cloud that can be hacked or on your cell, should you ever lose it or it ends up in the wrong hands!

oh god, are they bad? i didnt see those and Im not going looking for them bc I wont be part of violating their privacy. The Jlaw ones I saw were in a reddit thread I was reading on theories on how they were hacked.

I saw J Law, Ariana Grande & Kirsten Dunsts. I only saw one Kate Upton. I also heard they released a video of J law giving a BJ.
The only one that will benefit from all of this is Ariana Grande (IF she wants to get away from her Disney image)
ETA: I saw on that thread "Jennifer Lawrence's manager" commented a ceast & desist also posting a pic of supposedly a cyst on her vagina and said "you still want her vagina now?!" seems in line with her sense of humor though

If you're going to take nude photos of yourself as a celebrity then be prepared for the VERY REAL possibility they will get out. If you're NOT okay with that, stop taking naked pics of yourself.

I only saw a few of Jennifer Lawrence but I guess there were more graphic ones that I didn't see based on these posts LOL. It seems like any link I did see mentioning these pictures has already been removed. But I don't understand either how people don't realize if you are famous and you have them, there is a huge probability of them getting released. It just doesn't make sense.

From what I gathered, these photos were all deleted from their phones, but stored on iCloud. They probably never in a million years thought that A) It would still remain on iCloud after being deleted. B) that there would be a major iCloud hack.

I feel bad for them. Whether they knew or not that these were stored up on iCloud or Dropbox or whatever they have, someone invaded their privacy and posted them on the internet without their permission.
They are allowed to take whatever pictures they want, naked or not. Any of us are. That does NOT give someone else the right to publish them without permission. Granted in this day in age they really should know how backup systems work, that does not excuse the hacker that did this. I think it's sad that the focus will be to blame the victims rather than the person who did the real damage.

I feel like celebs/models/actresses have a deep-seeded attention whore factor anyway (not in a bad way, just cant think of a better word for it...but you know the type.)
pretty sure none of them are crying into their pillow over it
these people get buff or almost nude in movies, ads, photos, spreads, whatever
now if it happened to a non-celeb, sure. but I don't know.
it's wrong regardless, but... just don't know.

Why can't these hackers throw the straight females of the world a bone? How about some pics of all the supposedly well endowed male celebs so we can see what is really going on....... Prince Henry, John Hamm, John Mayer, etc. come on!
On a side note it only makes me like JLaw more that she admitted they were her pics versus denying it.

Maybe I'm officially old (40+  ) but I don't get the appeal of taking nude selfies. So I agree about the attention whore factor- after all, that's the business they work in.
My opinion of this is the same over Kate Middleton getting caught sunbathing topless- should you have the right to bare all in private? Yes. Should you understand the risks as a public person and maybe think twice? Also yes.

I refuse to upload anything to iCloud.
I learned a very embarrassing years ago with actual prints that fell into he wrong hands. Can't even image if the internet was around.
Such a terrible violation. Whether they should've taken the picture or not. They should be allowed to with something like this happening. The hacker is to blame. Nobody else. JMHO.

These women are adults. They chose to take the pictures of themselves. what They didn't do was put it out there for mass consumption -- some creeps did. THOSE are the ones that should be blamed. Everyone can go on and on about how they shouldn't have taken them to begin with - but they did. On their own phones, not anyone else's. LOTS of people do this.
Does no one deserve any privacy? They're famous and this is somehow their fault that some ahole hacked into their stuff? I don't buy that.
