Numbness in your finger tips

Anybody gets some numbness in your finger tips? This just started about a week or so ago. It comes and goes, but it feels like when you're hand goes asleep and is beginning to wake up. Anybody know what this could be???

Re: Numbness in your finger tips

It is probably carpal tunnel, it's very common in PG. I have had it for most of my 3rd trimester, my finger tips are always numb, it sometimes extends into my entire hand and if I sleep on my right side I get pain from my elbow up through my hand.

My Dr. said I could purchase a brace to sleep with, but that the only 'cure' is delivery ....so I'm just dealing with it for the next 4 weeks or so.

It is normal though, nothing to worry about

Re: Numbness in your finger tips

Sounds like carpel tunnel.

I've been getting that in my entire hand pretty much throughout my pregnancy. Feels like my hand is asleep. Just let your Dr. know.

Re: Numbness in your finger tips

I got that during pregnancy.
Good news is it may go away after pregnancy.

Bad news is it may not!

I have a friend who has carpel tunnel now after having her 2 kids. Mine has remained a little but seems to be getting better with time

Re: Numbness in your finger tips

It's carpal tunnel. At first, I occasionally woke up during the middle of the night with numb fingertips. Then, I began waking up several times per night with numb fingers and it became more difficult for the numbness to go away. I also started having some pain running from my fingers to my wrist. Now, I also get numb fingers during the day. It hurts when I try to make a fist. I started wearing braces at night, which helps a little. I just hope it goes away after pregnancy.

Same exact thing happened to me and it used to hurt so bad at night that it would wake me up. At for weeks post partum, my fingers are still numb!!!Chat Icon

Re: Numbness in your finger tips

I've had perpetualy numb fingertips since mid way through the 2nd tri or so, maybe longer. My wrists don't hurt, but sometimes grasping things (ie steering wheel or hairbrush, esp in the am) hurt. Making a fist at night was impossible. I now wear wrist braces on both hands when I'm sleeping, and it's working. The numbness is less severe, and the stiffness almost gone. So, if its really bothering you, I recommend the braces.
