Nurse Practitioner?

I don't really care for my current OB-GYN so now that I'm ttc I decided to switch to a doctor who delivered 2 of my friends' babies. They both love him and everyone at his practice.

It took me a month to get an appointment, and of course, AF shows up 3 days before. So I called today to reschedule and they told me that no doctor there has a free appointment until August. August! I'm dyin' here. I begged and pleaded and told the receptionist about my 70-day cycles and she got me an appointment for next Friday with the Nurse Practitioner in the office. She assured me that the NP can do everything the doctor would... blood tests, sonograms, internal exams, etc.

I've been to NP's before for BC refills and actually always liked them and felt treated a little more personably by them. But now that I'm ttc and having issues I'm wondering what I should do. Thoughts?

Re: Nurse Practitioner?

Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to go see her this way you're established in the office and than when you see her if there are questions or concerns that you have that you feel weren't answered you can make an appointment with the doctor.
Personally everytime I see my GYN for my yearly I see the NP and when we decided to TTC, I spoke to her first and she started all of the initial workups for me. I have since switched to an RE, but it had nothing to do with her or the office, as I HOPE to be back there soon, prego.

I love the two NPs at the practice I go to. IMO they know just as much as the doctors there! I would have no problem going to see them on a regular basis Chat Icon

I find that NP's are better than most Dr's. They will take time to talk to you and listen/answer all your questions. Give her a try!
