nursery
i think I'm likely the ONLY one that did this.....we ordered nursery furniture this weekend. I figured it would take 8-12 weeks. I was 29 weeks on Tuesday --- and i'm jewish, so i was ok if the furniture came just before or just after baby is born --- BUT the furniture we ordered takes 10-14 weeks -- so, more than likely it could be a week or 2 after i give birth -- AND that's only IF i dont give birth early. DH kept saying we should order it earlier --- now I feel badly -- I feel like I will be the only one whose nursery is not ready for baby when baby arrives! i can make sure everything else is done etc. -- walls painted, new curtains etc. but now i feel badly :(

def don't worry. The babies slept in my room for 3 months before going in their rooms. It was just easier. When dd1 was born we didn't have a room for her, lol, we were moving and then didn't have furniture for a while.

I haven't ordered furniture, painted the room, or cleared out the crap we store in there.
I'm having a c-section next week. She'll sleep in the rock n play or bassinet.

Thanks all....DH is a bit OCD some times, so I know that he's going to think that EVERYBODY else has their nurseries done and that i somehow dragged my feet......but its reassuring that maybe it wont be the end of theworld. i just emailed buy buy baby back and asked if there's anyway to expedite a bit. Would be nice if it were just set up and done before baby arrives-- but it is what it is at this point i guess.

I wouldn't worry too much!! If you have a bassinet or rock and play, you should be fine!!

Re: nursery
No big deal. I'm Jewish too and I ordered the furniture well in advance but didn't have it delivered until we brought the babies home.
1-dd1 slept in our room in a rock n play until 7 weeks and same for dd2 until 9 weeks. So no need for a crib.
2-you just need a handful of clothes in the beginning and you can organize them in piles, or bins, whatever.
3-changing table is good, but you could change them on the floor on a changing pad.
Walls, carpet, etc. is all we had ready before baby.

Buy buy baby sometimes has stock in the furniture. I know more so for the Westbury location (they have a bigger warehouse than Huntington).

We didn't use our nursery for 9 months after DS was born and it was never really ready. I never really decorated or anything.

Re: nursery
Eh it'll be fine. With DD she stayed in her bassinet & didnt move into her own room till she was 4 months. I did have her nursery ready though before her birth (and do this time as well for DS) only because after baby is here I just don't have the time & energy. But it's not as though baby NEEDED it yet. Just get what you can done now (less work to do with a NB in the house) & the rest will come together just fine.

Re: nursery
Don't feel bad!! Our nursery for DS #1 was not done when he was born either but like others said he slept in our room for the first couple of months anyway so we were barely in that room.

Re: nursery
I don't know of any babies who slept in their crib immediately. As long as you have a RnP and/or swing, you'll be fine. Babies like to be curled up and rocking when they're tiny.

Re: nursery
No there are plenty of people who don't believe in getting the furniture until after the baby is born, so you won't be the only one. My husband is one of those crazy people so i'll be waiting for my furniture to come after the babies born to. ( not Jewish just crazy Italians. )

Don't worry - we ordered our furniture in plenty of time too and it arrived 3 weeks after he was born. You can always make due with a pack n play if you have to.

Re: nursery
My dd didn't even have a nursery (we lived in a 1-bedroom apartment). All you need is a place for baby to sleep in your room and a surface (bed) for changing diapers. We put clothes/blankets in fabric bins on a shelf.
