Nursery Q- chair rails
Hi Girls! We are getting ready to paint the nursery and are using a cappuccino color on the bottom and a lighter beige on top. We want to separate with a chair rail. DH thinks it should be higher than the top of the crib, which is 47 inches. I think this sounds kind of high. Opinions...pics??
TIA

Re: Nursery Q- chair rails
Ours was existing and it is just about even as the crib. DD is sleeping now so I cant go measure, but here are a few pics.
I think the dressers are like 31" high to give you some point of reference.

Re: Nursery Q- chair rails
cute! Yours looks like it is about halfway up the wall, which is what my FIL suggested (he paints, etc.) DH thinks it should be higher but bc we have the darker color on the bottom I am wondering...

Re: Nursery Q- chair rails
Ours is lower than the crib, and we have the exact colors you are describing.
Wow, I took this pic before they were born. The room is different now - we have two cribs, and they are on the other side.

Re: Nursery Q- chair rails
We have wainscoting with a chair rail and DH also wanted it high. It's 4 feet wainscoting plus the bottom moulding and chair rail so i'd say over 50". We do have extremely high ceilings though so it worked well in the room and I love that it goes above the top of the crib.

Re: Nursery Q- chair rails
Hey Robin! We asked a painter before Joe did ours and they told us to start it right above the molding from your main window. I thought it was going to look off since the side window is higher, but it does not look bad. Image Attachment(s):

Re: Nursery Q- chair rails
We did wainscotting (boxed) and the chair rail came up to the door handle on the door. I didn't want it too high because I didn't want it to be overwhelming. I'll try to take pics tonight. It def ends below the back of the crib.

Re: Nursery Q- chair rails
Thanks for the feedback and pics!!!
Kristin, what an adorable nursery!!! Our window is weird though, so I cant go by that. It is almost floor to ceiling.
SweetTooth, you are right about the colors...and our furniture is similar and we're putting in a wood floor, so I can't wait to show the pics to DH :)
Still not sure what we'll do about the height...but thanks so much ladies!!

Re: Nursery Q- chair rails
I feel like ours is 36" but I'm not sure. I know it's the standard height though... below the crib but perfect for my rocking chair.
