nursery school behavior
My son turned 3 in June and is in full day catholic nursery school. He is bright but silly and giggly. He also came from 2 years in full day daycare where they are far more loose with structure. While my son is thrilled to go to school and completes all of his work and is social, his teacher called me to tell me she is very concerned of his behavior. She want to put him on a behavior chart. We are meeting on the 6th to go over specifics. While I don't mind the chart ( I am a teacher as well) I'm wondering what "normal" 3 year old behavior is in school. I know he is giggly and wanting to play and I don't want to be the "he's perfect leave him alone" mommy, I just want to be prepared for a purposeful conversation with her. She keeps saying "very concerned" yet I have never received a phone call or letter stating that something serious (yelling, hitting or such) is going on.

Re: nursery school behavior
She didn't give you specific examples of his "behavior problems"? I would ask for exactly what he is doing wrong. I'm no expert, but at 3 they should be working on social skills, and playing, not doing "work".

Re: nursery school behavior
Im meeting with her on the 6th, but as of now she hasn't told me anything. He's so happy going there so I can't imagine he's the devil child so we will see. Just frustrating that she says " very concerned".

Re: nursery school behavior
DS went to Catholic nursery.
I could definitely see them having issues with certain kids, even if there wasn't anything per se "wrong".
They also told us flat out that they don't really have the ability to "deal" with kids who have special needs....this was geared toward the elementary grades.
While I liked DS teachers, they were definitely the older school marm type and I got the sense that they didn't change things up much ever from year to year.

I would be annoyed that she didn't give specifics. So you're supposed to wait and wonder until next week? If she was very concerned I would think she would tell you right away.

nursery school behavior
I have 3yr old twins. They just turned 3 on Oct 28. We go to Nursery. There is one boy in our class who is told continously that there is an issue. He also doesnt speak very well. When we had our parent/teacher, I was told to have one of my boys evaluated because he doesnt want to sit in circle time. When he does, doesnt pay attn. When he is really into crying (meltdown) they have to take him out of room because to disruptive. We are having eval with CPSE on nov 10. Our pediatrician says not to worry....still young. I am curious what the eval will say. If y ou have questions or in doubt...get the eval. so many parents turn there head.
I know my son jumps around like he has ants in pants. My other boy doesnt...so curious is this active boy or too much???
