Nursery School Program

We will be registering Ella for Nursery School Program for September.Chat Icon Chat Icon The school we are interested in is a Catholic School where we are living.

Can you all suggest or give me a list of questions that DH and I should ask when we meet with them at the school? Sorry, but I am fairly new to this and also I cannot think clear enough because I am such an emotional wreck just thinking about my baby going to school.

Thanks!

You can ask if the parents receive reviews or evaluations of their child's performance.

Re: Nursery School Program

The biggest concern I had with the nursery schools was the security. The schools I looked into reassured me that after a certain time the doors would be locked and anyone entering would have to be buzzed in. Also make sure all back doors and entrances into the classroom from outside are locked. I went to one school that said all back doors were locked yet I entered through one. Then they changed their tune and said well that door is propped open for the teachers/aides.?? not sure why. but I didn't pick that school.
I'm sending my dd to a catholic preschool as well, my school gives a small discount if you belong to their parish so that might be something you ask too.
Is dd potty trained I know that a lot of nursery schools are really strict with that. You can ask how strict they are.
Also I was crazy about their playground. For me I wanted to make sure it was private, not easily accessed by outsiders. One school had their playground right in front of the school with a small 4' chain link fence. I didn't like the feeling that anyone could be watching my child play and nobody would even know.

I've been a SAHM with my dd so letting her go is def a huge problem for me too. My biggest fear is the security though.
hope this helped.

No real experience yet, but I would defintely ask about the potty training thing as E would be just 3.
As the previous poster said look for security issues
Also make sure its a facilty that you can just drop by...my friend has her son in her facilty that they don't let parents in I have a problem with that.
