Nursing top.. Sticker shock
What did you do/ are you doing for nursing tops?
Did you go out and buy a whole slew of nursing tops? Did you find some stuff in your wardrobe to work? (any ideas to share) Did you just buy a whole bunch of button down shirts? Just lift up your old shirts and show your belly? (eek!! I can't do that yet!) Just wear nursing tanks all summer?
I can't believe the prices on this stuff!

Re: Nursing top.. Sticker shock
I only bought nursing tanks (target)----I would wear them under a hoodie or deep v tee. I also did a lot of double layer tanks so I could pull one up & one down and not show off my stomach. I BF for 16 months and never wore one nursing top other than a tank.

Re: Nursing top.. Sticker shock
I wear a target nursing tank under every shirt. In the past 6 months i've probably not worn one about 2-3 times. I literally wear them every single day. They are about $17 and I have about 10 of them.

So did you both buying any nursing bras? Did the tanks provide enough support? I just got one nursing bra. I brought it home and it's so high cut that it will be hard to find anything to wear it with! I ordered two more online that look like they are lower cut. This is so frustrating!

ive been wearing lots of v necks and i have some maternity camis that are low enough. but other wise when we are out she usually takes a bottle with breast milk. i think im going to just get a few nursing camis for the sumemer basic ones. otherwise ill just get low cut tops.

Re: Nursing top.. Sticker shock
I wore button down or zipper sweaters over nursing tanks... I found that I didn't need a bra beneath them... my boobs were kinda defying gravity when they were in 'active duty'

They aren't THAT supportive....I was a B cup before and now am a D, but can get away with just the tank under a shirt. They are pretty low cut so they go with a lot.

Re: Nursing top.. Sticker shock
I BFd for almost 7 months.I bought few nursing bras at target. didn't buy any nursing shirts. just used regular summer tops at home . Although I never BF in public/ outside so never really needed the nursing shirts. I would just pump at home before going out and bring it with me. Target does have big selection of nursing bras and shirts for a good price, I mean they are still little overpriced but better than other stores like Gap maternity. Also try K mart and Old navy.

Re: Nursing top.. Sticker shock
I didn’t buy any nursing tops. I bought a couple nursing bras and a couple nursing tanks from Motherhood Maternity and wore regular shirts. I wore them nearly every day for 7 months and they were about to fall apart by the time I finished nursing. Next time, I’m going to invest in the same thing but better quality. I’ll get my money’s worth since I know I’ll wear the heck out of them.

Re: Nursing top.. Sticker shock
I wear a thin tank top underneath my shirts (I like the ones that are $5 from H&M) if I know I'm going to be nursing outside of my house. I pull my regular shirt up & pull the tank top down under my boob. The tank keeps my belly covered & the regualr shirt can be pulled down to keep my breast covered. I wear a nursing bra under my shirts.
ETA: I have 2 nursing tanks, but I feel like they aren't supportive enough. I never bought any more nursing shirts after that.

Re: Nursing top.. Sticker shock
one word for you - target!!! it was the cheapest and best nursing top i found. i couldn't bring myself to spend a small fortune on all the other expensive brands out there...target nursing tops served it's purpose and i basically live in them. i tried out the walmart tanks also, but they were REALLY short...and i'm not tall at all! (5'2) i hate how i can't really wear anything other shirt, but i figure it's a small price to pay in order to feed my daughter go and buy all the nursing tops in target!

Re: Nursing top.. Sticker shock
I either wear a tank or pull my shirt up. I use a nursing cover when I am out so no one can see my belly. I like the glamourmom tanks better than the target ones.

Re: Nursing top.. Sticker shock
thanks everyone. I was really sad when I went through all my summer tops and i put them all away because I thought wearing them would be silly. I didn't even think of pulling them up or wearing a tank under then to pull down. Thanks for the advice. Now I have to get Dh to bring the summer clothes back upstairs so I can go through them again!

Re: Nursing top.. Sticker shock
Bill bought me a few from the gap and I think he paid 12.50 for them or it might have been 16.50. They run really big so you might want to send stephen to pick you up one. I have 2 tanks and I haven't really used them. I have been wearing some of my maternity shirts because they happen to have the cross over in the front. I also usually just pick up my shirt and feed DD that way. If I know I may have to feed her in public I wear the nursing shirts so I don't have to lift up my shirt even though I have a drape to got over me. Also BRU has maternity bras in the new motherhood section. They are anywhere from $18 to $25.
Good luck. I hope you are feeling better and I hope to see you on Friday.

Re: Nursing top.. Sticker shock
I hear you on the sticker shock! I bought two nursing bras from target and I wear them under button downs, v necks or low cut tank tops that are stretchy. I also bought two nursing tanks that I wear if it's a shirt that I need to pick up from the bottom.
I would say to buy one of each and see which you find you like better. My boobs don't need to much support, so I have it pretty easy.

Re: Nursing top.. Sticker shock
I have never worn a nursing top & I've nursed two children. I do use Target nursing tanks under many shirts though. If I know I have to nurse in public, then I wear a tank top underneath my shirt. At home, it doesn't matter so I just pull up my shirt & voila!!

I had 2 nursing tanks from target that I wore if I knew I would be nursing in public...mainly so my belly would not show.
that was it, everything else was regular clothes

same here...I bought some nursing bras but didn't really like them. It was so much easier/comfier to wear the target nursing tanks! That's your best bet!
