Nursing twins

I'm trying!!! I'm trying so hard to nurse the girls but man, they like to sleep. They fall asleep on me a lot! They are losing too much weight so I did start supplementing a little. Any advice???

Also, I'm down almost 30lbs!! Keep it coming! Chat Icon

Did you try taking off their clothes, flicking their feet, wet washcloth on their face...basically the nurses told us...Annoy the crap out of them!

Good luck! Hang in there!

ps they are so adorable

Re: Nursing twins

Maybe if you pump and bottle feed??? I don't know if it will work but if they are taking the formula why not ur milk through a bottle?!
I dunno if it will work but its worth a shot. I am sure I will be asking you guys for advice in the next few weeks but its worth a shot.

YAY about being down so much weight so fast!! I hope that i can say the same when my time comes.

Did u read my update that the docs not taking out my stitches till 36 weeks and 3 days?!! Then they will just let me be and go naturally. So who knows when these girls will really come. LOL

Re: Nursing twins

Well now they will wake to nurse, but while I'm nursing the start out great and within 10 min look drunk and fall asleep or just suck to suck. I did pump a few times to give that too and they suck it down but I don't make that much right now and I know they are more efficient than the pump.

I'm just doing the best I can! They are waking to feed more often and I'm fine with that. Hopefully by their next appointment they are putting on the ounces! lol

Re: Nursing twins

Are you nursing tandem?

I know in the beginning when I tandem nursed it was hard for me to keep them awake because my hands were literally full Chat Icon So I would try to feed them separately whenever the opportunity presented itself.

But I am pretty headstrong with BFing. Even if my ped told me to supplement I probably wouldn't Chat Icon If they are hungry, they will wake to eat!
