i love one of the gifts she got me and she loves one of the things i got her so thats all that matters really...
i was just alittle shocked that she spent less (a significant amount less) than what we unofficially agreed on
eta: please dont think im being completely shallow... its not a $$ thing. our other best friend spent alot less on me than i did on her but i dont care, we never had a limit and im in LOVE with what she got me.

If the plates she bought you were SOOOOO CHEAP, why don't you just buy the rest of them for yourself.
Maybe you don't think you're shallow (& you might not be) but this thread makes you appear 100% shallow & ungrateful, IMO
thats WHY i went to the website in the first place, to buy the rest myself.
if i appear shallow to you, thats fine. with all of your 118 posts, i'm sure you really know me.... but i never said i was ungrateful. i said i LOVE the plate. just wondering why she'd spend half of the normal "rate"

well you're entitled to your opinion.
i am just saying, if she didnt want to spend the amount as normal (which is $60)
i would have been more than happy for her to say "hey, can we just do $40 this year?"
it just would have made MY life easier.... i wouldnt have stressed over extra things to buy her just to add up to $60. im not made of money and i have more than double the amount of ppl to buy for than she does.

Jess, I know where you are coming from. I usually spend about 100 bucks on a good friend of mine, and last year she bought me a fondue maker that was on sale at Stop and Shop for 20 bucks. Quite honestly, she probably never dreamt that you would see how much she spent. Just accept the gift, and move on. OIt is not about how much you spend.
