NYC DOE
My father in laws brother (DH's uncle) passed away on Sunday. Friday is the funeral. Will they deduct that day out of my CAR or is it an excused absence? I owe 17 days to the DOE so taking another day is not an option for me unfortunately....

When my grandfather passed away, I was allowed to take 3 days. However, in the contract he was considered immediate family. An uncle will be different, I think you will be entitled to 1 day.
I am so sorry for your loss

I'm sorry for your loss!!!
When DH's grandfather died, they gave me 1 day. I ended up needing a second day, which they took from my CAR.
