NYC employees insurance quest
I have GHI through the NYC Dept. of Ed. from their website it seems like they cover 1 round of IVF (or at least 75% of it).
I'm not at that point yet, although I think its where we are heading, so I want to start planning financially.
Has anyone had this insurance and had IVF or know how much they paid for?
TIA!

Re: NYC employees insurance quest
You have to pay 25% of the cycle and you have 3 IVF lifetime cycles! The cycle runs around $3,000 (this includes meds) The co-pays are 30.00 per visit.
However, you have to do 4 IUIs before you can move on to IVF! That is the stinky part!
Good Luck! It really isn't bad insurance!

Hi,
I am about to undergo IVF. I have GHI too ( am a NYC teacher) and they cover 3 IVF's, not 2. And yes, just 75% of it is covered. I am going to go onto my DH's insurance in January (CIGNA) where 100% is covered since it's better. But where did you hear 2? It's 3 IVF's a lifetime.
Good luck to you both..and to me as well:) I am SO nerovus!

Re: NYC employees insurance quest
it is 3 cycles. And the good thing is a cycle counts as one IVF and one FET. The 25% co-insurance does add up, it also does not cover cryopreservation AND if you have your ER and ET done in a hospital the hospital part fo our insurance does not cover infertility. So the GHI pays for the procedure, but the empire part wont pay the hospital fee.
