NYC ideas Memorial Day weekend
DS will be 8 over Memorial Day weekend and since they are off the Friday before I was thinking of taking my boys in for a few hours. Any ideas what to do? We did museums before and the Empire State Building. Thinking something different that won't be the entire day so we're back at home and use the pool a couple of hours too and BBQ.

Statue of Liberty is more than a few hours, but fun.

Battery Park is really cool to walk around. They have the Seaglass Carousel which is neat.

NYC ideas Memorial Day weekend
Just wanted to add that it's a mess getting out of the city the afternoon of the Fri before Memorial Day - most companies get out early so trains are mobbed and there is a lot of traffic. So it's not really a great day to come in for a little bit because it takes awhile to get home.

It's Fleet Week too- so maybe take them to the Intrepid and you can check out all the ships that are in for it!

LOL! Yup.. and people like me who want to go when there's no crowds. I remember when I lived in Hoboken and had a shore house once in a while on a Friday night we'd go into the city and it was dead. So was Hoboken! LOL

An 8 year old DS would enjoy Madame Tussaud's or Ripley's museum.
Also the remote control sailboats in Central Park and the zoo are a low key activity.

This. If it were my child's lifelong birthday dream and they begged me every day since their last birthday that they wanted to go to the city the Friday before Memorial Day I would lie about what day it was and take them on Saturday. 
I'm sorry to be a downer but you do not want to do this.
