NYC maternity leave
I am just a little confused and was hoping some one here could help me out. If I went on maternity leave, for 6 weeks, and a 5 day vacation is during my 6 weeks, does that week off count as one of my 6 weeks or do I then get 7 weeks off. Is it 6 calendar weeks or 30 working days?

Re: NYC maternity leave
Hi,
Your vaca week is included in that 6 weeks...so you get 6, not 7:)

Re: NYC maternity leave
My vacation week was not included in my weeks pay wise. I went on maternity leave in Jan and for Feb break got paid without using my bank days.

Re: NYC maternity leave
But you only got 6 weeks off but they took 25 days?
My maternity leave will be starting before the Feb break and will continue through the spring break. I plan on taking 8 weeks. It is all so confusing. I don't plan on telling my administration until I return in September because of past miscarriages early on.

Re: NYC maternity leave
Since you use your banked/borrowed sick days first, if a break falls in there, you do not use your days during the break. I went on my leave around Feb. 3, and the payroll secretary counted how long I'd get paid. She did not count the Feb. break in that time.

Re: NYC maternity leave
I lost 2 vacations during my FMLA leave. I gave birth on Christmas day, but had started the leave on the 17th. I borrowed 20 days, which were not counted over the Christmas break but the time was included in the leave. I also lost Feb. break. It's total BS. It actually just changed...you used to get an extension. Have you spoken to Sheldon Hychman the FMLA guy? He's awesome.

Any school vacations of a week or more should not count against your FMLA leave.

I used banked/borrowed days first and you don't have to use them during vacations.
