NYPD and Davis Vision
Can someone tell me how it works b/c DH is clueless? I need to get my eyes checked and most likely a new prescription for glasses and contacts. What are the co-pays? Where can I go? I live in Merrick BTW.
TIA 
ETA: Do I have to go to a Davis Vision store or do eye dr's accept Davis Vision as well? I just need to know if I have to find someone new or if I can go to the opthamologist I have been seeing.

I believe your opthamalogist would be covered under your regular healthcare ins. and the glasses and such would be under Davis. They have a site that you can check.

Ok...so a regular yearly exam and glass/contacts is covered under Davis and than if I have a problem with my eye like a disease, injury. etc where I need medical treatment, it would be covered under my regular insurance?

I went to an eye MD in Merrick under my husband's plan - Dorfman in the shopping center with the Outback. I believe the exam was free and then I got a credit toward glasses or contacts.
I've also gone to Target under his plan.

Thanks...I just looked it up and there is an office there with several dr's.

I believe that's correct!!
I wear glasses too and used to have Davis. They were great.

I got to Davis.
free eye exam, well technically its not because you pay $40 copay. You can either get glasses or contacts and I happen to wear both so I get screwed.
I still paid $150 for my glasses and contacts and still have to order more contacts.

I have NYPD and Davis.
You call for an appt and they just verify your coverage- no more vouchers needed.
There is no co-pay when I go- you get an eye exam once a year and an allowance for glasses or contacts....

You can either get glasses or contacts and I happen to wear both so I get screwed.
I wear both as well. Maybe I will price contacts through Costco.
