NYS grant...update on status
Well I was informed today that there are no state funds left for me to do my 2nd IVF cycle. This is a huge bummer...my insurance doesn't cover anything. I'm thinking maybe Columbia just ran out of funds and there might still be some $ left at another place. I've been thinking about switching anyway...maybe NYU or Cornell.
I'm so disappointed.

Bummer is right! Sorry!
I just contacted my RE's office earlier this week and they basically told me that they are so backed up that it didn't even make sense to determine if we were eligible for this cycle.

Just called my place, going to RMA of NY. They didn't get the grant money yet for this year from the State (do they realize it's about March?...).
Well, I'm just happy we can charge it. What would I do without credit cards.

That really stinks- we were hoping on getting it again also...They need to make it mandatory that all insurance cover IVF- It gets me so angry at the things that are covered by insurance and when someone is trying to bring life into the world, they get no assisitance...I'm sorry

I thought maybe $ was allocated each year but this is what they told me:
"Unfortunately, there are no further funds available from the New York
State Department of Health at this time. It is unclear when or whether
additional funds will be made available by the Department of Health"
So I'm taking this to mean that they may not receive funds this year...who knows...so frustrating.

ITA!!! There are people who totally abuse their bodies with drugs & alcohol and their treatments are covered. But couples afflicted with IF - you are on your own.
