It was $180 before taxes when I rec'd it in the beginning of the year.

my job explained it as 66% of your paycheck or $200 a week...whichever is less.

the company that managers short term dis. for my company told me its $170 per week before taxes.

I think it depends on the company and your term there. For example, I have been at my company for 8 years, so I get 100% of my salary for the entire 6-8 weeks.

Most likely that is you company's private disability insurance, not NYS disability. NYS Disability is a standard $170 max. per week.

$170 a week. it's possible your employer has its own plan that will overall give you more. at my job, i get paid for a total of 14 weeks, but for the 6 (vaginal birth) or 8 (c-section) weeks that STD pays you, i'll get two separate checks - one from the state (rather the STD insurer) for $170, and the balance directly from my employer.

NYS disability is about 170 a week... short term disability is a supplimental thing. For instance a companies short term gives you a max of 400 per week (for up to 13 weeks)... ontop of the regular disability.
