OB appt today at 10:30 - to induce or not to induce? **UPDATE**

**UPDATE:

So...had my first internal. Turns out I'm about 2.5-3cms dilated, 50% effaced. He's happy with that but was a little concerned about my elevated BP. He wants to go through with the induction tomorrow though. He says my 'cervix is good for induction.' Whatever that means.

He suggested I do a lot of the typical natural induction methods....spicy food (started already ), sex (ummmm...), castor oil (NO, not gonna do that), glass of wine (YEA!), hot bath. He's hoping she'll get moving on her own, and if that doesn't happen, he wants me to call him at 7:30am tomorrow and then we get myself into the hospital and start the pitocin.

I have this odd feeling she may start on her own, just from the internal. I actually don't feel so bad about this right now. As nervous and scared as I was, I think I am starting to get excited, which I should have been all along. But I'm always a nervous nellie.

I am soooooo nervous.

I was really really praying would come on her own, but it doesn't look like it. Unless my OB examines me and decides I'm progressing enough on my own...but I just got the feeling from my last appointment he's favoring induction. He did ask me at first what I wanted to do...so I believe he will give me a choice in the matter. But at this point...I just want to have the baby!!!

I really didn't want an induction...so scared since the rate of c/s are higher with an induction. Yet I've had several friends that have had vaginal births with induction! It's just so hard to focus on that...I feel like I have no control.

And hell, I could go into labor without induction and still end up in c/s...every birth is different. I know c/s are performed all the time...my sister lived through two, I have plenty of friends who lived through them. But it's just not what I imagined for myself...

Uggghh!!! I really did not want to get to this point!

Please send my way that whatever the doc decides, it will all go smoothly!

Oh, I didn't see you on yesterday, I thought your cookies might have worked! I wish you the best of luck and if you are induced that you go smoothly. The last of us June girls might go on the same day, because I have been having some contractions for a few hours!

Good luck today... just wanted to let you know that with my DD, I was induced. They didn't have to do Cervidil because I was 2 cm dilated, so they just did the pitocin. They gave me an epidural about 5 hours after they started, that's when the contractions started getting bad. I went from 3 cm to 9 cm in about 2 hours, pushed and out came my !!

i was induced--had cervidil no pitocin. had a vaginal birth and am glad i did it!

unless you are more than two weeks overdue or there is something wrong with the baby i would never opt for an induction. JMO.

first...yay the baby is coming soon!!! second...my mom was induced with me and had a vaginal birth. i would discuss these concerns with your doctor before you decide. Good luck!!!

listen to your mommy instinct! you know what is best. that being said, I was induced and didn't have a c section.

Do what you feel is right. I went into labor on my own, was in labor for over 24hrs, pushed for 2.5 and then has a C anyway, so as you said, ANYTHING can happen.

I cant waaaaiiitttt to hear all about it though!!!!

I think if all is ok and you aren't 2 weeks late he should let you hang on a little longer. You know your body best. I asked my dr to wait a few more days before inducing and I went in on my own. I was 10 days late.

Whatever happens Tara it will be okay. All that matters is that Riley gets here healthy. You know me..........a C-section is the LAST thing I wanted and it's not at all how I expected my birth to go BUT in the end Emerson is here and there were no complications and everything turned out fine. At this point you just need to do what's best for you and the baby. Everything will work out in the end..........induction, vaginal birth, C-section or not. I'm here if ya need me.
