OB Doctor V Midwife for delivery

Just looking for your experiences here. My OB GYN practice just hired two midwives -first time for this practice and I made an appt to see one of them at my next check up.

I know there is no guarantee that a midwife will deliver my baby but I just wondered what was your feedback if you did use a midwife and how it compared in your opinion to having a doc deliver your baby.

TIA

Re: OB Doctor V Midwife for delivery

I used a midwife practice.... to make a LONG story short... I was planning a home birth. I had a VERY difficult and VERY LONG labor 52 hours.... TO this day I tell everyone my midwives were "my angels" they comforted me and supported me through every decision I made and "saved me" and my body. I was able to have a normal vaginal delivery with no interventions other then an epidural that I got 47 hours into my labor becuase I needed to get some sleep..... If I had used an OB they would have sectioned me after just a few hours because I didnt start dilating until I got my epidural...

My prenatal appointments were AMAZING each one was 1-2 hours LONG.... none of this in and out of the offife thing... I could go on and on... If you do a search for my name and midwife You can read a lot of my posts on how I feel about it. It's hard to type long responses these days with a Chat Icon in your lap!Chat Icon

Re: OB Doctor V Midwife for delivery

I hadnt planned on using a midwife but I gave birth on a Sunday, and the practice covering for my dr. was an MD and midwife team...this initially made me nervous. The MD popped in and out but the midwife was the one who delivered my baby and she was WONDERFUL!! So supportive and helpful. (Although at the time of birth it could have been the janitor delivering and I would have been happy just to have labor over lol)
