OB or Midwife recommendation?

Preferably, I would like a midwife that works with an OB. I would go with Melanie Sumersille, but I don't want to deliver at Winthrop. I'd like to go to a hospital where I will definitely have my own room.
Any recommendation for either a more natural leaning OB or a Midwife? I am in Nassau now, but will consider travelling and might move anyway.
Thanks!

It's probably too far from you but I'm with stony brook midwives and every room at stony brook hospital is a private room.

Stony Brook Midwives. I prefer the Bohemia office over the E Setauket office b/c of the office staff but all of the midwives are great.

Re: OB or Midwife recommendation?

Crashing!

I used Melanie for my first birth and SB Midwives for my second. I loved Melanie, and loved that she was a solo act (the SB Midwives are a large group and work on rotations, so it's a crapshoot who will deliver your baby. That said, I was happy with all of them). But. Stony Brook hospital beat Winthrop in every way, no contest. I live in central Nassau and went to the SB Midwives Bohemia office, and it wasn't too bad of a drive.

How far were you from the hospital? I checked Google maps and it's a 50 minute drive from me.
Do you always see the same midwife for appts? I like seeing the same person for appointments, even if they might not be at delivery.

OB or Midwife recommendation?

I just switched to the midwives too.. I used a very small group for my 1st pregnancy so I really knew each doctor and loved that I knew whoever delivered I'd be comfortable with... well.. none of the doctors made it on time and I did just fine without them :) I am definitely way more comfortable now with a large group and just knowing that SOMEONE will be there for me

I was about the same distance. My baby born in SB was a faster labor than my first, but we still made it in plenty of time.

Oh, and if you use the SB Midwives, I'd actually advise that you see someone different each time, so you've met all the partners when you deliver.

It looks like there's a midwife based in Huntington Hospital now. I don't have any reviews, but she's closer than SB...
