recommendation (doulas, midwife, hospital)
Hi all, I need your help.
I live in Stony Brook, NY I would love to hear your recommendations on your favorite providers...from which hospital you liked, to your ob/gyn, your midwife and/or your doula. Thanks!

Re: recommendation (doulas, midwife, hospital)
I go to the Stony Brook Midwives. I was really impressed with them at their open house, and I've heard wonderful things from women that birthed with them. They have offices all over Suffolk. They deliver at Stony Brook (obviously) and I like that hospital a lot. They're very baby-friendly. Skin-to-skin after birth is encouraged, new moms get lots of BFing help, and they won't take the baby from you unless it's absolutely necessary.
And I'm treking out from central Nassau to go there!
No doula recs, but if you go to the Long Island Doula Association's website, you can start to gather some names.

Hey mrs213. I go there too. Which doctor do you go to there? I really like that office. Do you know anyone who delivered with one of their doctors?

Re: recommendation (doulas, midwife, hospital)
Stony Brook midwives are a great group, and the fact that they are local is a plus. They are all very competent. As for a doula, Vicky Moody is amazing. I met a ton of doulas when interviewing, and hands down she was the best.. Very experienced, knowledgable and calming. I think she has 7 kids of her own.. Her website is www.labouroflovedoulas.com I believe she is a postpartum doula and Lamaze instructor also...

I switched to this practice about halfway through my pregnancy and I'm so happy I did. I haven't met the midwife yet, but Dr.San Roman is great!
