OB Visit - Copays/Billing
I recently switched to a high deductible insurance plan (long story). Therefore, I don't have a copay but have to satisfy $1,200 before insurance starts covering anything.
So far, I have not received a single bill for a regular OB visit. They have only billed me for lab work and I had to pay for the NT scan that was done at another facility.
They aren't billing the insurance either as I checked the site.
Question - does your doctor charge you a copay and bill your insurance for each of your visits?
I am 18 weeks along, so I have been there many times already.

OB Visit - Copays/Billing
They should be billing your insurance and when the insurance kicks it back because you haven't met your deductible the doctor would then send you a bill. Once you satisfy that $1200 amount the doctor would find out because the insurance won't kick it back anymore and would have started making payments. Sometimes it takes a while for my OB to bill the insurance carrier and then a while for the company to actually process it. Insurance companies like to take their sweet time with things.
ETA: I am not charged a co-pay at every visit, I just had to pay it at the first visit and with my current insurance everything else is covered at 100% other than lab work.

OB Visit - Copays/Billing
Are they slow billers. When I went to South Bay OB gyn they were horrible at billing. I left them at 20 weeks and I received a bill a year later for stuff my insurance didn't cover.

I pay a copay every time I go to a visit and the average bill (that my insurance company gets) with an office visit and ultrasound is about $1300 before they discount it.

OB Visit - Copays/Billing
I have a $6,000 deductible plan - eeek...... The drs never charge me a copay - even my plan a standard sick visit is ends up being $59.....my level 2 - took over a month to receive a bill from winthrop and ended up being like $130.... My drs office took a long time to bill - and 25 weeks I ended up paying like $400 for a few visits/ultrasounds.

It mIght be that they take a while to send the bill. I just recently got a bill from OB visits back in April and May. They probably don't know you have to fulfill a deductible before the insurance pays, so they tried billing your insurance and it might be a while before they hear back from them and then bill you.

I do not get charged for each OB check-up but have gotten bills for all of the lab work / scans.
