OBGYN questions

1st off- I realzied today I have no refils on my BCP after only 6 months.... (usually at my annual pap... I would get a prescription for the yr.) SO I called and they said- Oh no.... while taking any kind of hormone we need to see you every 6 months????

All my previous Dr.'s never did this??? IS this odd??? Or did my past Dr.'s just s uck???

and 2ndly-

Im on the fence about switiching... The Dr. did a great job with my c-sect. and I was happy w/ everything while preg. (well I dont really have any complaints) It is a bigger office, and a busy one, and to be honest after seeing how they treated my friend (who wanted to be an OB patient of theirs) I really got a sour taste about them....

A bunch of people had suggested Dr. NInia- and that is where my friend ended up- and I have gone to MANY of her apt.s and I LOVE everyone there...

SO I kinda wanna switch to him..... but also nervous about seeing someone different then who did my surgery...

I mean I know they will get all my records and stuff...

Should I just stay with the old Dr. or make the switch if I wanna...????? There is just no patient/DR relationship at the old office....

I would switch. The whole reason I used midwives was for that "Dr./patient" relationship. To me that is a very important part of my healthcare.

Re: OBGYN questions

I am conteplating doing the switch also. I didn't go to the dr for 2 years before I got pregnant and so I just went to whatever doctor I had seen around town since I was also new to l-town at the time. The one doctor really has a stinky personality and I never really felt comfortable talking to him about issues and the other doctor was just So-So...although I feel they are VERY VERY skilled and did an amazing job delivering my daughter.

I'm on the fence about this too. So I can't help you decide. But ultimately I'll probably change in the long run...

Re: OBGYN questions

Every Gyno I have seen since I was 17 I have gone for my pap yearly and gotten a 6months prescription and then had to come back for a quick check to get my 6 month refill.
My NY,FLA, and Texas doctor's have all followed this routine.

Re: OBGYN questions

I was on BCP for 8 years before I had kids and I've always been to the same doctor. I always went every 6 month while on the pill. When I came off it, I only had to go once a year. My doc would never prescribe me pills for a year, I had to go in and see him for an exam.

As far as switching, it sounds as if your gut is telling you to, so I would.

Re: OBGYN questions

I go to Dr. Ninia and LOVE him and the staff. For some reason, I don't remember having to go in there every 6 months for the BCP or the patch (however, I haven't been on those meds in 2years so its hard to remember). I'm almost positive that I called them and told them I needed a refill and they called in the prescription for me.
Good luck!

When I was on BCP, yes, I had to go at least every 6 months. There is an increased chance of high blood pressure and they like to check that.
