Observation- Animal hair and clothing for work.

So I was on the train the other day. Going into NYC.

A woman sat down next to me. Dressed professionally. Doing work.

And she was COVERED in animal hair. Like, she was going to her professional job with animal hair all over her.

I understand people have pets. I have a dog that does not shed. But to go to work covered in animal hair? I just dont get it.

I have two dogs- one long hair (a collie mix! Chat Icon) and one short. Let's just say it's a constant battle.

This.

I try to keep my clothes clean, but I have ended up at work with dog hair anywhere you can think of. I have found it on my face, in my lunch, IN MY BELLY BUTTON. This morning getting on the subway I looked at my watch and realized the wrist of my cardigan was dotted with black hair. I don't dress 'professionally' for my job so I don't know if that makes a difference, but I have honestly given in to the fact that my body and clothes basically are now about 10% dog hair at all times, if not more.

We have three cats. I keep a lint roller in a drawer next to my front door for this reason, but inevitably I find cat hair on me at some point during the day.

Maybe she forgot to use her lint roller? Maybe cat hair is her favorite accessory?

I used to work with a woman who was covered in cat hair. I didn't realize why I was sneezing so badly (we shared a cube). I finally put it together after she told me she had 4 cats and realized her clothes always had hair covering them. I used a lot of allergy meds during that job!!

Re: Observation- Animal hair and clothing for work.

it can't be helped. My dogs hair gets into my clothes like a needle and just stays there. Even if I wash, lint roll, shake it out it's still there. I even brush him out every day, vacuum, sweep, mop nothing and I mean nothing helps.

Like everyone else said- its inevitable to have hair on you if you have an animal at home. I lint roll every day before work and still find little black hairs all over (so attractive, I know).

My first thought was you are barking up the wrong tree on this messageboardChat Icon

I've sat next to people on the train & starting the coughing fit where your airway is closing up because the guy next to me had a wool coat on. He kept asking if I was ok & I finally said "Do you have a cat?" Then I had to get up & stand the rest of the way. I'm not even considered highly allergic to cats.

No matter how much a use a lint roller I never seem to be able to get my cat's hairs off of me. Its because they lie every where on the couch, on my bed, on my blankets. Then they love to rub on my work pants once Im dressed.

I have a white cat. She is not allowed upstairs near bedrooms, or on our couches. I vacuum everyday and once in a while I still find her hair Chat Icon

I have a black haired dog and a light brown haired dog. Needless to say we have lint rollers all over. That helps with most of it but not with the hair that needles itself into my clothes.

It does!! I don't know which is worse- the long hair or the short hair. The long hair at least usually comes off with a lint brush, the short hair just melds with the clothes.

I specifically don't wear black because of this. I have lint rollers all over the place bc the minute I'm dressed my animals like to rub all over me or its in the air. Even though I still find it gross.

One of my cats LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVES dark colored pants. She adores them. I put on my black slacks and like static cling she is *there*. LOL She's also mostly white! hahahaha

I keep a lint roller at work. In NYC it was a lost cause to try to get it off before I walked out the door and onto the train.

This is me exactly. I even pull clean clothes out of the dryer and find cat hair on them.

Its a constant battle. I try to lint roll before I leave the house but I keep a roller in my desk drawer at work too and sometimes if I'm running late I just roll when I get in.
