OBX or Myrtle Beach? For younger kids.

Rethinking our decision to do OBX and we need to book soon its getting late.

I am DEFINTLY more of an OBX person. I like laid back etc. Simple vacations...but I don't mind doing lots of things either.

The issue is the kids. We have 3 kids, who will be almost 6 and 3 and 1/2 when we go . When I told my son we'd be driving a long time to go thte beach , he was like, huh?

I'm afraid they will be bored doing just 'the beach'. What else is there to do in the OBX for young kids?

Myrtle beach is more kid friendly right? Is it somewhat the same?

Thanks for opinions and advice!

I've only been to Myrtle Beach so I can't comment on OBX, but yes MB is very family friendly, they have different places kids can go such as an amusement park, water park, broadway at the beach has kids stuff like magicquest and wonderworks, and mini golf everywhere.. there is also nascar speedpark and a few dinner theatre shows like Pirates Voyage and Medieval Times.

Good luck!!

I've only been to OBX once but, I've been to MB many times. MB is a lot more commercialized but, you can make your vacation as relaxing or as busy as you want it to be. There are nice relaxing areas south of Myrtle Beach (Murrells Inlet, Garden City Beach, Surfside Beach) where it is a lot more laid back but, close enough to enjoy the things that MB has to offer.

We stay at a resort on the south end of MB and it has a great beach along with numerous pools and a great kiddie pool area with lazy river that DS loves.

Myrtle Beach is definately more kid friendly. If you stay in North Myrtle Beach it is less crowded and laid back and a short drive to everything.

I love Hilton Head. Very kid family, like the atmosphere better than Myrtle. More to do than OBX. Amazing (firm sand, you literally can bike on it)
