Re: Ocean City, MD--where to stay?
I think it depends on where you want to stay...we grew up staying on 20th Street and the Boardwalk, then started staying at the Commander, which is a pretty nice hotel. For the past 4-5 years, we have been renting condos. We will only stay on the Boardwalk, but I know a lot of people who stay in hotels that are off the Boardwalk and in North Ocean City. For the price, we find that a rental is the way to go...we are staying in a 3 bed 3 bath condo this year that is in a very desirable location for $3000.00/wk with my parents and brother. To stay in a hotel, it would have been much more than that for us. For hotels, I would recommend the Commander or the newish Holiday Inn Suites. They are both pretty nice.

Re: Ocean City, MD--where to stay?
Two summers ago we rented a house in Bethany Beach, and had a wonderful time. All the beaches down there are off the same main road, from DE to MD, so each day we would go to a different town. It was nice to be in the house, because we had a kitchen and a porch, and cooked almost every night.

We like to stay on the boardwalk usually in the middle. I have a review on here for a hotel DH and I really liked. I'll bump it for you.

Re: Ocean City, MD--where to stay?
Totally depends on where there house is. We always rent a place up in the 100s and we've had some visitors stay at the Carousel or the Fenwick Inn. It's quieter up there which we prefer but if you want to be right on the boardwalk, there's a ton of hotels down there.

Re: Ocean City, MD--where to stay?
My family owned in OC, MD for a long time, and now own in Bethany Beach, DE. I think for a family it's beneficial to get a condo. Eating out can get pricey, and condo's usually have nice kitchens or at least a balcony for predinner drinks. I prefer the non boardwalk end of OC ( streets in the 100s, wee lived at 130th). There is stuff to do every where with kids, I just think at night the boardwalk, lately, has brought out an "unsavory" group. When are you thinking of going?
