there's a place called rocco's on main street in east rock. it's big. not the fanciest place, but it's conveniently located and holds a lot of people.

no, i don't. but from what i've read, it seems nice enough. i'd suggest going there and seeing the place for yourself. it's not for everyone, but it's got it's perks.
i think you can do a search here and find some opinions on the food.

I would try Angelina's in Lynbrook on Atlantic Ave. They have a party room that can definitely hold 50 people and their food is consistently good.

LINKS club is a golf club but they have a nice reception room which I have been to for a child's christening party. I'm not sure if you need a connection with a club member but it can't hurt to ask.

Crashing: I would stay away from Rocco's. They are long time name in the town and the food is good however they have screwed so many people (double booking, over charging, etc).
If you are looking for a room but nothing too fancy try the East Rockaway Yacht Club.
There is the Knights of Columbus in both ER and Oceanside.

ER Yacht club was pretty nasty to me when I called to inquire, I was quickly turned off, and I *think* you may need to know a member, but not sure.
THe Fishery is also nice, and great food.
We had ours at the Coral House and I was happy, but not bowled over by the food.
Alias Smith and Jones was AWFUL the one and only time I ate there.
THere is an amazing Portuguese Restaurant on Austin Blvd. called La Taberna in IP, I would check them out too, the food is insane!
Maybe try Long Beach as well?
I have heard great things about Angelinas as well, and there's also the Sanibel Chophouse in Lynbrook.

Oh and we were also tossing around Paddy McGees in IP as well, we almost went with them but needed more space....50 ppl should be fine and they are open year round for private parties.
