Re: Official DISNEY Thread....
I love this thread we just booked our DD's first trip (she will be 15 months) to WDW this weekend - we are staying at the Poly next fall.
I love these websites - I find them very helpful! I hope others will get some use from them...
Mousesavers Disboards Allearsnet
Mousesavers - has codes and tells you how to get the best deals
Disboards - is like this posting board but with all WDW info (some universal info and disney cruise info too).
Allearsnet is fabulous for having updated menus for ALL restaurants and counterservice and snack carts in WDW. So you can see where you want to eat, and to help with budgeting your meals. It also has all rehab and closures - so you will know what rides or hotels are getting rehabs.
I hope these help some of you!!!!

Re: Official DISNEY Thread....
I have to second Mouse Savers -- I mostly use them for car rental discounts and they are usually pretty significant. Enough to cancel out the upgrade costs for getting a full size car. We also show our AAA card and sometimes get a free upgrade at the counter.
Disboards give you all the inside info from fellow Disney fans.
I also frequent Intercot.com - it's similar to Disboards. They also have a ton of resort, rehab and park hour info plus all the menus online.

I just wanted to pass on a money saving option.....
On disboards.com they have a section where you can rent the points of dvc (timeshare) members for deluxe Disney hotels (beach club villas, wilderness villas, animal kingdom villas, boardwalk villas). Take the time to read about renting points b/c its possible to pay the cost of moderate hotels or less and get the deluxe accomodations!

Don't go NEAR Disney that weekend!! It's the first weekend that all the Christmas stuff is out and all the shows turn over. It's a MADHOUSE!!!! Go the following weekend- definitely a drastic calm comes until Chrstmas week.

I was there last year at that time for my HM and it was a madhouse! We were there a couple of days before Thanksgiving and it was great, but thanksgiving day and the weekend was packed!

Thanks girls... we have that friday after thanksgiving off and since we're not going home to NY we figured it would be a good weekend to go. But, we'll really have to think about it now since it seems like it's really packed that weekend.

I agree!! DH does all of the planning, but Disboards to him is like LIF to me. It has a wealth of information- from the broad planning to the little details- tips & tricks, reviews, etc.
Honestly, most of their restaurants are Great... its something that we really look forward to in the vacation, actually. A few of our favorite places are:
Ohana (in the Polynesian resort) Boma (in the Animal Kingdom lodge) Le Cellier (in Epcot- Canada) Whispering Canyon (in the Wilderness lodge- great for kids!)
There's TONS of money saving tips on those boards- the key to a nice (and smooth) Disney trip is PLANNING... really good planning.
Definitely get "The unofficial guide to Walt Disney World 2007". Its an excellent resource- serves as a great guide for planning your itinerary.... advises when the parks are the busiest, which ones to avoid on certain days, etc...
as far as where to stay- it really depends on what youre looking for. They have different levels of lodging and the rates run the gamut (just an FYI- when we booked our room, we did it through AAA and received a 20% discount on the room). When thinking about a room (besides looking at price), decide what youre looking for in terms of transportation. Some are just a quick bus ride, some are on the monorail, some are walking distance to epcot and mgm.... We always rent a car, so it doesnt matter much to us... but if you're not renting one, this could be a significant detail in the planning.
where to shop? Disney is basically designed so that no matter which way you are looking, there's something in front of you to buy I dont think you'll have any problems trying to figure out where to shop
time saving tip- get to the parks EARLY!!! like, right when they open. We do that, and usually get on every ride before 11:30am. If you get there in the afternoon, you're basically only going to be able to get on a few rides and a few fast passes (then again, much of this also depends on what time of year you go).
Go early, buy tickets and everything in advance, research and plan plan plan... and you'll have an awesome vacation

The Festival is celebrating 32 years at Downtown Disney® in 2007. The Fine Art was moved from Downtown Disney® Marketplace to Downtown Disney® West Side in 2002. To qualify for Festival of the Masters, artists must have earned a primary award in a juried art festival within the last three years. Prospective exhibitors submit award verification and slides of their works to a jury of art experts, who then have the formidable task of reviewing the slides and selecting the participants. This process ensures that Guests to the Festival will be treated to one of the finest displays of art in the nation. Hence, Festival of the Masters has become one of the most sought-after shows among artists. Festival of the Masters is a nationally-recognized art show which continues to be ranked among the country's finest outdoor art festivals each year.
