OFFICIAL LIF BOOK CLUB
Okay...seems like we've got enough interest that we can do this thing!!! I've never been in a book club before, let alone set one up so I'm flying by the seat of my pants here!
I figured what we could do would be that everyone would suggest maybe 2 or 3 books they are interested in reading and I could set up a poll where we vote on our first book. Does that sound okay? Anyone have another idea? I'm really excited!!
ETA: I have heard good things about 'The Help' by Kathryn Stockett...I actually had DLed it to my Kindle but haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

I'm open to all genres...and I figured we would do something like take one week to read the book and then have a discussion thread up for another week...so 2 weeks between books. That way everyone has a chance to join in the discussion regardless of schedule

I am a fast reader as well...but I've never been in a book club. If more people are comfortable with 2 weeks and then a week for discussion that sounds good to me!

I am generally a fast reader as well due to commuting but whatever everyone desides is fine with me

As far as the time period goes, I think I like the idea of 2 weeks, since we'll need time to get the book too. Maybe everyone could check in as the finish, so if everyone finishes early, we can start the book discussion early?

I found out my library is open during construction but my card expired and all the copies of The Help are out.
Will that be the first book? I can either buy it or download it in Adobe Acrobat form, for free.

i already read the help, so i would be down to discuss it.
otherwise, how do we decide on the books? should we maybe suggest three and then vote? or assign someone to choose them? maybe we could create a list of about 10 so we know which ones we are going to read next. i've never been to a book club so i dont know how they do these things.

thats a good idea...
in my RL book club... the host picks 3 books and we all vote on which one we will read next... maybe we can have a different person pick each time...
