oh boy - let the renovations begin!

I remember when we said "We'll just do a couple things - some painting and the floors - before we move in."

We've been working straight through since Friday on the house... We tore up ALL the carpet and nails / staples that go with it (including one carpet that was put in over another carpet... the bottom carpet was GLUED to the hardwood floors underneath! ) There was nasty wall-to-wall carpet everywhere.

We replaced all the kitchen appliances, but are waiting for the plumber to come out since the piping for the gas line is too high for the newer stove (Lovely) and b/c we need water run to the fridge for the ice maker. I'm going to approve the granite slab for our countertops today and hopefully that will be measured, cut, and installed this week. (I hope!!) The electrician comes tomorrow to fix some wiring, put up some new light fixtures, and set up the wiring for the cable / tv behind the walls so we can mount our TV.

The old owners had gross brick veneer everywhere. We had to demo it in the kitchen, living room, and dining room so the dry wallers can start tomorrow... Floor guys are starting Wednesday (over 1,000 sf of hardwood floors need to be refinished )

Now we're stripping wallpaper glue and prepping for marathon painting...

I also grossly underestimated how much garbage all this work would generate.

Man I'm exhausted! I'm so grateful my ILs are here helping this week. They've done SO MUCH work...

Wow, Kara! You have certainly done a lot in the short amount of time you have been in your house. Perhaps you need to get one of those dumpsters for the trash.

Don't forget to take pictures of before and afters! I am sure everything will look lovely when you are done.

Wow. That's quite an undertaking.

We're planning on cleaning and painting before we move in.

That's about it.

I feel your pain Kara! We're going through the same thing. Plus, one project has turned into 3 others!

I know it's a lot of work now, but it will be so worth it when you move in and everything is how you like it!!!!
