Re: Oh for the love of Pete...Cushings?

meeeeee (again)

I had high Cortisol and they suspected cushings...but I was cleared. There are diets and foods that are naturally supposed to lower your cortisol levels - I know cucumbers are one.

Honestly, I think all of my autoimmune issues were branches of my PCOS, because now that I'm PG and my PCOS is not active, I haven't had any issues at all.

See they say I dont have PCOS b/c I never had any fertility issues..But I honestly question that.

Why did they suspect Cushings? If you look at pics of me from just a few years ago...even a year ago...there is quite a difference...Ive gained 50lbs in 3 years. I lost all of the preggo weight within the first couple of months...BUT since last Januray ive put another 20lbs. This just isnt right....

Re: Oh for the love of Pete...Cushings?

insanely fast weight gain, high levels of cortisol in my blood, skin rashes/hives were all contributing factors.

WAIT....did they tell you that the rash can be a part of the symptoms? Of Cushing's..our rash..that rash...My GP said that it wasnt related..although I dont believe him. I think I need a new GP. (And Ive been getting hives for years..)

OK...this rash with the circles right? This rash that they want the rheumatologist to see before they will treat it...right? You had the circles??!!!!

So then I should make another appointment with another doctor? Couldnt hurt right?

YES - I had the circles!! that's how it all started for me.

Red/purple circles. After a few weeks, the red/purple circles started growing huge pink hives in them.

Re: Oh for the love of Pete...Cushings?

yup, my hives got worse after showers...worse after wearing a bra/tight fitting clothing, UGH I'm seriously terrified if this is going to come back after the babies are out.

Re: Oh for the love of Pete...Cushings?

that's exactly how they started for me - AND how every single one of my hives looked when the swelling went down. the red/purple circle lasted for a few hours after the swelling.

Re: Oh for the love of Pete...Cushings?

just to clarify - i DID NOT have cushings (confirmed my ct scan of my brain) - but my symptoms were very very similar. (especially the high cortisol)

I went through a lot of time, money and energy with this whole rash thing. A LOT. I'm sure I'd still be dealing with it had I not become PG. In fact, the next step for me was to try a medication called Cellcept...not covered by my insurance, and costly (and a little scary! drug facts). You absolutely CANNOT take this med while PG, but I didn't need it anyway.

What is the reason behind your high cortisol?
