oh geez, is this ringworm?
She's had it for days, and I honestly wasn't thinking much about it, until they noticed it at daycare today. It seemed to be getting lighter in color, kind of drying out. Her teacher swears it's ringworm, the daycare director says exzema.
I called the ped and they said from my description, it is probably soriasis (sp?) or exzema. But now I'm paranoid after looking at pics online. She first said put lotrimin on it and see if it goes away...then I'd know it was ringworm. But after I described it better, she said just put aquafor on.
She only has one, and it's on the inside of her arm.
TIA

Re: oh geez, is this ringworm?
is it a perfect circle shape? can you post a pic? One of my students gave me ringworm 2 years ago
Whoops sorry I didnt see the pic before but I dont think that is. When I had it, it was a circle shape and red outlining it and it was more of a regular skin color inside the circle if that makes sense
like this pic

Re: oh geez, is this ringworm?
Just looking at the picture, it looks like eczema. The same kind I get all winter long. Just keep it moisturized for now, aquaphor is great for it. It should go away, if that is what it truly is.

Re: oh geez, is this ringworm?
hmmm, well it started out as a round pink thing...never saw the skin color inside. She's had it for well over a week now, maybe longer, and it hasn't spread. But her teacher said once Riley touches it, it will spread. Well now that Riley has seen everyone checking it out, now SHE'S checking it out.
And now I'll probably get it...
I'm just paranoid because she was playing with a friend's cat last week....

Lookes like eczma to me also. Is it crusty? Correct me if I am wrong, but I think ringworm is flat.

Re: oh geez, is this ringworm?
I first thought it looked a little crusty, like it was drying up. But now I'm not so sure.

Re: oh geez, is this ringworm?
My daughter had something that was crusty and dr. said it was eczma.
Just bring her in. I know I do for any little thing. My husband calls me crazy and limits my time on webmd. lol

Re: oh geez, is this ringworm?
It doesn't look like ringworm to me...DH had it a few years ago and it really is like a ring...so it would have a hole in the center, not totally filled in like a circle (which is like the picture you posted). I'd be very surprised if it was ringworm b/c it doesn't look like it. On a side note, DH got it most likely from the martial arts place he works out at (mats and stuff) and he named his ringworm "Barry"...(like he was buried in this skin) Yep, that's my DH

Re: oh geez, is this ringworm?
That looks like eczema- my DS's looks JUST like that. Put some cortisone cream on it- if it clears up, you'll know it's eczema.

Re: oh geez, is this ringworm?
Looks 100% like eczema to me. Ryan had it and it looked just like that..he had a circle patch on his back that just finally went away.
The cream we were prescribed really really helped...

Re: oh geez, is this ringworm?
thanks everyone!!
Riley's daycare teacher tends to be a know-it-all about things and it drives me nuts. She has a reason/diagnosis for EVERYTHING and I just wanna laugh.

Re: oh geez, is this ringworm?
Don't think that is ringworm from what I know about it. The center would be skin colored and not red.
Looks like eczema to me. Hope it goes away soon!
(oh and I can speak from experience that I got ringworm from my cat .... only me!)

Re: oh geez, is this ringworm?
TOO FUNNY that you posted this the other night, i noticed a patch on DS' chin and immediately thought "oh shhiittt ringworm!" since its going around at daycare but it clears up overnight, every night. i think its eczema. try aquiphor - that always clears it up! his patch looked the same, not as circular but the same

Re: oh geez, is this ringworm?
Doesnt look like ring worm. Ring worm usually has a pale center.
