You're in your last trimester??? I hate to even bring this up but have you heard of PUPPS? It's a rash that occurs in the last trimester. The baby is completely fine but for the mother the itching gets worse.
If it doesn't let up, call your ob/gyn & see what they can do for you.
Oatmeal bathes help somewhat. You may want to FM PrincessMaris - she's a pro with itching & had PUPPs.

Re: oh my god my belly is soooo itchy i cant take it!!!
O god Corrine I pray to God that this is just an itchy stretchy belly...
How far along are you???? Do you have any stretch marks...???
My pupps started out with no rash, and wasvery faint to begin with... Please keep in touch with me if it gets any worse...
Somethings that were safe to use for the itching was:
Ice packs, oatmeal baths (be careful too many too often can cause a yeast infection) Sarna cream (my god send) Grandpa pine tar soap (you dont feel instant relief, but I believe it worked) You can use benadryl (the pill or the cream BUT NOT BOTH)
All of these remedies ARENT JUST FOR PUPPS... THEY ARE SAFE TO USE IN PREGNANCY FOR ANY KINDA ITCHING...
I have so much info on PUPPS...and if your belly starts looking a little rashis ( particulary under your belly...a "patch" of tinted skin) I can send you pics of what my belly looked like (not pretty pics...)
Again if you need ANYTHING let me know... Im seriously the pupps expert lol!!!

Re: oh my god my belly is soooo itchy i cant take it!!!
Towards the end of my pregnancy I started to itch like crazy. Eventually it spread to my arms and legs.... I wound up having cholestasis..... so if it spreads to other parts of your body, I would make sure your doc knows, just so he can keep an eye on the situation and monitor you and the baby. I'm sure you are fine and it's just itchy from your expanding belly , but just wanted to mention this Just in case.
My itching started on my belly and then spread. I had no rash or other symptoms, just constant horrible itching. I got this at the end of my pregnancy though... not I don't think it would hurt to let your dr. know.. he/she may be able to help you. Feel better... I know how horrible the itching can be

Re: oh my god my belly is soooo itchy i cant take it!!!
Ugh...I hope it is not PUPPS either!! I was diagnosed with it over Thanksgiving weekend and it is absolutely terrible. I'll have to try that sarna cream PrincessMaris mentioned. I have a prescription ointment but nothing seems to completely help. They say childbirth is the only cure. 15 days and counting.
good luck!!

They sell a type of calimine lotion called "Phenolated Calimine Lotion" It's pink, not clear, but it works SOOOO much better than regular calimine lotion. It should be on the shelf right next to the regular one, just make sure it says 'phenolated' (pronounced fee-no-lated)

Re: oh my god my belly is soooo itchy i cant take it!!!
i mentioned to my doctor 2 weeks ago and he said if it spreads to my arms and legs it could be pupps but it has not. i do not have a rash yet as i am trying not to scratch but it is sooo itch. im 34 weeks along and keep putting cocoa butter on it and get temporary relief but have to put calamine lotion to help it gives it acool feeling. i do not have any stretch marks on my stomach thank god and it seems to be above my belly button and arches over so its not all over my belly that im itchy. i havent eaten anything out of the ordinary and know its not an allergic reaction. i do have another doctors appointment next week so if i do not feel better i will tell the doctor. i will try your suggestions ladies and hope that im not so itchy.

Nothing will heal you...only suppress the itchiness for short pd's of time.... If the itching is REAL bad your DR could put you on steroids...
Mine started me on 10mg. once a day (that was useless) eventually I made it up to 60mg. once a day....although It was still bad...I did see a slight difference (for the better)
Steroids wont harm the baby...actually if anything it will just strengthen those little lungs... Ryan was born close to 8lbs 2 weeks early
Corrine- It took the Dr.'s almost a month to diagnose me...I had no rash.... I was itchy everywhere but only developed a rash in my stretch marks on my belly (and it wasnt real noticeable) Stay on top of your Dr...
PUPPS is something NO ONE can understand unless they have had it...and DR.'s tend to write it off as no big deal...if things dont get better...def. push the cholestasis test....and different options they could do to suppress your itching...
