SOOOO ITCHY ~UPDATE
So... my bellys been so itchy lately... (I know I know its from my skin stretching...) So Im scratching like crazy which then cuzes my ungodly stretch marks to sting... its a mess...
Also my arms (esp my elbows) have also been sooooo itchy lately...theres no dry skin or anything... and Im always putting cream on...
What else can I use (last night I just put an ice pack on my belly...the baby kept kicking it off lol)
Do you think this could be more than just stretching skin... Theres no rash... so I dont think its PUPPS...
But the itchyness is in other parts of my body...coincidence?????

Re: SOOOO ITCHY
My sister had something called PUPS when she was pregnant. Its was a bad skin irritation that her doctor prescribed medication for.

Re: SOOOO ITCHY
I posted this in another thread on liweddings... Towards the end of my pregnancy I started to itch like crazy. Eventually it spread to my arms and legs.... I wound up with a somewhat dangerous condition called cholestasis..... so if it spreads to other parts of your body, I would make sure your doc knows, just so he can keep an eye on you. I'm sure you are fine and it's just itchy from your expanding belly , but just wanted to mention this Just in case.
My itching started on my belly and then spread. I had no rash or other symptoms, just constant horrible itching. I got this at the end of my pregnancy though... not sure when it is possible to get this. I don't think it would hurt to let your dr. know.. he/she may be able to help you. Feel better... I know how horrible the itching can be

Re: SOOOO ITCHY
About a month ago I started to develop a rash...it started around my belly button and then spread to my whole belly, then my arms and chest. I went to the doctor who tested me for cholestastis...but, it wasn't that...I think I had PUPPPS...(and, it has since gone away).
I tried everything they suggested, and took plenty of Aveeno baths...but, they didn't work either.
I started to use a pine tar soap (Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap or Packer's Pine Tar Soap)...it worked wonders.
You'll find this soap in drug stores (not Duane Reade)...real neighborhood drug stores or maybe specialty food stores (like Whole Foods).

Re: SOOOO ITCHY
I had PUPPS about 3 weeks before Alex was born I was prescribed medicine which took about 2 weeks to work, the only helpful lotion was the Sarna but make sure to get the sensitive cause it doesnt have an odor. The regular has this disgusting medicing smell. I also used Avenno soap and lotions which also worked. If it gets really bad please see your doctor then a dermatologist.

Re: SOOOO ITCHY
I don't really know.... I had itching all over my belly and especially my arms and legs... not just 2 spots. All I know is nothing helped. Once they finally diagnosed me with cholestasis, I was sent directly to deliver (I was already 5 days past my due date). How long have you had the itching? Mine started just on my belly and spread slowly.

I too had cholestasis. No rash, just loads of itching. It started on the belly and gradually spread. I would definitely mention the itching to your doctor, just in case, especially if it gets intolerable (like mine did), or if it spreads to even more places.

If there's no rash, then you may have cholestatis...call your doctor, they'll probably want to do blood work to see.

Re: SOOOO ITCHY
I called the Dr today...at first they wanted me to go see the "house" dermatologist... When I called the dermatologist they couldnt fit me in for like a month... SO that wasnt gonna help..
I called back again, and explained my symptoms a little more in depth.. they wanted me to come down tonight... but I have an apt. tomorrow...so they said to take an Aveeno bath tonight and use some sarno cream (or something like that) to get me through the night.. and tomorrow will draw some blood...
All I know was last night I got no sleep...I was to busy scratching like CRAZY!!!
IM a little worried on what this could be...???

Re: SOOOO ITCHY ~UPDATE
Sounds like how I started. It got to the point where I felt I was getting no sleep at all. Luckily I only had it about the last 3 weeks of the pregnancy. It does sound like cholestasis to me. The doc sent me to a high risk doc to be checked and have the blook work done.... and it took a week to get the results back.... but they had me going every 2 days while I was waiting for the results. Let us know how it goes..... honestly, the aveeno bath did nothing for me. The only relief was ice, and that lasted only a short while.

Re: SOOOO ITCHY ~UPDATE
Aveeno baths did NOTHING for me either...however, I had an actual rash.
Don't freak out...
I don't know too much about the cholestasis...I was tested and do not have it...but was told it has something to do with your liver overworking or something like that...

Re: SOOOO ITCHY ~UPDATE
I mean could it be just stretching skin... I tend to think know because of the intense itchiness... but who knows... there are no other possibilities...
The 1st time I called the Dr. they didnt seem worried...they tried to send me off to the dermatologist... is wasnt until she couldnt see me for like a month... that they even spoke of seeing me...??

Re: SOOOO ITCHY ~UPDATE
It very well may just be your stretched skin...however, I think cholestastis has an intense itch that spreads...do your feet or hands itch too? I thought I read somewhere that with cholestastis your feet (on the soles) or hands may itch too.
When I first told my doctor about the itchies I had...they looked into my eyes...and said no, you don't have jaundice...I think that's a sign of cholestastis. But, sent me for blood work anyhow.
I knew I didn't have cholestatis because I had a red rash...which you don't get a rash when you have cholestastis.

Re: SOOOO ITCHY ~UPDATE
My hands and feet didn't itch either. My doc at first told me to just use cream, aveeno, etc.... but once I stressed the fact that my arms and legs were itchy, then he sent me for the bloodwork. I would ask for the bloodtest just to make sure and put your mind at ease.

Re: SOOOO ITCHY ~UPDATE
I had PUPPPS and it sounds very similar to what you have. It was a nightmare! One thing that helped were cold towels/washcloths throughout the night.
Good luck. Hopefully you'll know more tomorrow
