OH MY GOD...We JUST ADMINISTERED OUR FIRST PIO SHOT

If only there was a camera in our home! The whole process took us 1 hour 15 minutes because every time my husband would get ready to "dart" it in I would yell out NOOOO!!! He was sweating bullets after 20 minutes and ran to get a beer!

After 1 hour 15 minutes we did it and after icing it off and on for a long time it really WASN'T ALL SO BAD! However, we followed instructions, he pulled back on the plunger as we were instructed to make sure that there wasn't any blood there and there wasn't. However, after he injected the PIO and held the skin taunt and pulled the needle out...I bleed A LOT! Is this ok? He thinks it's fine, as long as there was no blood on the plunger part. Hummm... I have 3 more night to go of this and then onto the suppositories.

Goodnight,
Keri
PS. I used a heating pad for 20 min after but I already have a small lump and its already soar! THE PRICE WE PAYChat Icon

Its ok if it was bleeding afterwards, you probably just hit a capillary. As long as you didn't hit a vein (which if there was no flash when you pulled back on the plunger, you didn't) you are fine.

I am sure it will get easier each time.Chat Icon

I always bled after the PIO shots...don't worry too much about it.

Oh you are lucky! I have been on them for 2 weeks. I bleed a little after, but nothing too bad. Make sure he sticks in in very quickly, I barely feel it. Honestly, I thought the sub-q's were worseChat Icon

There were several times we had to race for tissues because blood was dripping on the floor.. It's normal, and gets way easier!
