I usually will make something quick that I know he likes if he won't eat the original meal. I feel bad knowing he didn't eat and I don't want him going to bed hungry!

See thats what I have been doing but now she only wants the same thing over and over....I finally said Enough Already and she went to bed without eating anything....I feel bad but I am sick of always feeding her the same stuff.

this is what happens here as well....how many nights can she eat chicken nuggets???!

If you asked my son..364 days a year (one day of Turkey for Thanksgiving) Chat Icon !

I rarely, if EVER, make separate meals for my two (DD is 19 months, DS is 3-1/2). But I am lucky in that they will eat 99% of what I make each night. But yes, on nights they don't eat what I make, they don't get anything else. If I happen to make something I know they won't eat or would not be appropriate for them, I will make them their own dinner, but again, this is rare.

Is she drinking milk? I ask this because Antonio was what we thought a picky eater until we got rid of his bottle

Don't get me wrong he doesn't eat everything we do...and i don't expect him too...he's two!

Maybe you just need to make some modifications...or make the meal more kid friendly.

Honestly I don't believe the theory that if they are "pickiness" (if that's a wordChat Icon ) is learned.

We all have different likes and dislikes.

I know of many siblings who grew up in the same household who have totally different preferences in food.

I eat everything pretty much...however if it has uncooked parsley or cilantro I hate it. Am I picky? no i just don't like the taste.

It's also totally normal at her age to only have two meals a day.

Good Luck

since probably about 8 months. If the kid is hungry, he will eat. Sometimes he might have just a yogurt for dinner, thats okay too. He isn't emaciated...he is fine. If he eats, he eats.

Re: OK at what age did you finally say Enough Is Enough!

depends....if i know it is something she usually eats or i know shell like but doesnt eat it, she wont get it...shell get offered the same thing a little while later...and if she doesnt eat it then, it is simply some fruit or something....and if it is something new (like the other nite, greg made a pot roast, and she ate like 4 or 5 bites then didnt want anymore), i simply made her a PBJ about 30 minutes later and she ate the whole thing....so i guess it depends... At 15 months. I only make something different for her if we are eating something she can't ...like spicy food. Other than that, she gets what we are having.

Ryan eats chicken nuggets or pizza for dinner and that's it. He used to like mac n cheese and pasta, but lately he won't eat it. Forget about vegetables.

Ryan eats much earlier than DH and I do, so I'm making 2 meals anyway. We offer him different foods, but he won't even try them.

Ditto.

Ditto here too.

I work FT and don't have the time to go and make 4 meals and waste all that food. If he's really hungry, HE will eat. Trust me!

My son likes to play that game at times and it drives me mad. so what I do is tell him it's time to eat and serve him his dish. If he makes a face or has a fit, I put the dish aside and let him have his fit. He ALWAYS comes around an hour after we've all eaten and eats up EVERYTHING off his plate.

Good luck!
