OK baby-wearing moms - need some sling help...

There are sooo many slings online - all ranging from 45-100Chat Icon dollars...

I am looking for a sling I can use right away with Cailen (newborn) until as long as I can use one with him - so at least a year?

But - I am looking for a sling that is:

A - SIMPLE, SIMPLE, SIMPLE to use - I mean - completely idiot proof - some of the ones I see online look like they can be complicated. Also, obviously one that is very safe - I dont want to worry about Cailen falling out!

B - Closer to the 50 dollar range, if possible

I love some of those pretty hippy ones online, but please help point me in the right direction - I'd rather have an ugly one that is useful rather than a pretty one that will be complicated...

Please tell me what you have, links to websites, whatever you can give me - thanks!!!

I SWEAR by this one......dd was screaming all the time and it saved my life.
It is nice and soft a snug so you can use it on then when they are teeny. (I am not sure what weight it holds but I think you can use it all along)

We used a ring sling from birth to about 6 months then went to a Mei Tei. We still occasionally use the ring sling but seem to prefer the Mei. She LOVES being worn Chat Icon

wow - price is right w/ this one!!!

Here is what it says for weight:
Designed to evenly distribute your child's weight, the Ultimate Baby Wrap is versatile and fashionable. The unique design of wide cotton panels that wrap around the shoulder and lower back optimize the support of the child's weight. There are five ways to carry your baby: forward-facing, tummy to tummy, on your hip, piggy-back and nursing/sleeping. Supports infants from birth to 3 years, or 5 pounds to a maximum weight of 35 pounds.

I have this one and the Baby Bjorn. I like them both, but DH will only use the Bjorn.

I ordered the baby wrap and returned it...I used the baby bjorn a lot and loved it as did DD. Both my husband and I used the baby Bjorn...I would definitely recommend it.

same here, the ultimate baby wrap was not that easy to put on, DD hated it and I didn't feel like she was secure in it.
We use the bjorn and like it although next time around I am going to try a sling, maybe hotsling or Peanut Shell.

Thanks ladies - I have the Bjorn, but they say the minimum weight can be 8 lbs, and I don't think he has hit 7 yet... plus, I opened it up, and it looks SO complicated to put together - I need DH to help me!

I am another Bjorn fan. Once you put it together, it stays together. All you have to do is unclip one side (which is very easy).

Did you check out Lucky Baby you can usually find a sling for $20 on the sale page.
I'm not a huge Bjorn fan. It was way to complicated to me with a newborn.

Rockin' Baby Sling. I think it was $50. They have the ones you put through the loops and ajust that way or the ones you zip. And, they look fab!!!!

I got a padded sling from KangarooKorner.com for about $60 and I use it a lot. Just remember it can take some practice to get it right. Honestly, I've never seen anything in a store like Babiesrus that comes close the slings I've seen on the web. Everytime I'm out shopping in baby stores people are always asking me where I got the sling because they want one and they don't carry them in the big baby stores. Check out the babywearer.com -- it's a totally overwhelming site, but full of info!

Re: OK baby-wearing moms - need some sling help...

I love this one. I did not like the Bjorn...didn't get enough use out of it because once the babies got heavier it was very uncomfortable. This sling supports your back and I can still stick my 2 1/2 year old toddler in it to ride piggy back.

Ergo Baby Carrier

Its closer to the $100 range but will last you for years and you can use it all different ways

Re: OK baby-wearing moms - need some sling help...

I never used a sling, but used the Baby Bjorn from very early on. There was a period of time that that was the only thing that made him happy. The only problem was he has butt radar- the second you would try to sit down he'd start to cry. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: OK baby-wearing moms - need some sling help...

The sling we bought didn't work out at all, but hopefully you can find one of these suggestions b/c I found that the baby bjorn although I like it didn't work in the beginning b/c I didn't think her head had any support using it so we waited to start using that. I will caution against the infantino sling. DD hated it and I wasn't crazy about it either. Wish I had found a better one.
