Ok. I know everyone loves Dr Hanauer. . . . .

But is she really that great? How easy is it to get an appt & how are the office hours? Is the wait really bad when you do have an appt?

I want to find a new ob to schedule my 1st appt. I like my dr but I don't like everything about their office. I am looking for a female ob in queens or nassau & I would prefer a place that does in-house sono's & lab tests. Also, evening hours & no long waits would be great.

Any recommendations?

Well I see Dr. Hanauer and can answer some questions.

She only has evening hours on Thursday nights till 7:00. And Thursday nights are busy due to that.

They dont do labs in house, and sonos , well they have sonos. but the big ones during Pregnancy , you are sent to Madonna Perinatal for.

The wait is long, but not the longest I have ever waited and The reason is also, Dr. Hanauer NEVER rushes you , sits and treats you like her only patient. What happens is a longer wait due to that, but IMO, I would MUCH rather wait and have a Dr. I can feel that comfortable with.

In all honesty , she is the nicest and most patient, not rushing Dr. I have ever seen of any kind.

The office always calls me back quickly and sometimes I can speak to the Dr. As soon as I call.

I have waited as long as 45 minutes and as early as 15 minutes.

It's never that bad.

Re: Ok. I know everyone loves Dr Hanauer. . . . .

I have gone to Dr. Hanauer for the past 6 years or so. I agree with everyone elses comments about her. She is the BEST doctor you could have. I have always waited at least 30 minutes to see her but it is worth the wait. Once you are in with her she never rushes you and answers any questions you might have. I am thrilled that she will be delivering my baby and could not be more comfortable with her. Her staff is also wonderful!!!

Honestly, she is the BEST! Yes, the wait can be long sometimes. I have waiting as long as an hour- but I've also waited as little as 5 minutes. I think it all depends on when you go. Mornings are best. I usually can get an appointment relatively easy- much easier than my last OB- who you had to wait sometimes 2-3 months to get an appointment for. (and she doesnt even hold a candle to Dr H.). Dr H. is the easiest dr to talk to. She is soo caring and kind. I had a miscarriage in October and she was so just comforting- more than any family member was. She kept calling to see how I was- and in fact, she had me come in a few weeks after my miscarriage just to see how I was doing.

I recommend her to everyone who needs an OB- just because she is so worth it!!

I live in Lindenhurst and its a pretty far ride for me too, but thats how comfortable I feel with her. I thought everyone was making it up too...like she couldnt be that nice. When we left after our first visit, I said to DH...OMG, she really is THAT NICE.

I have all the same things to say about her. I have waiting anywhere from 10 mins up to an hour. She will sit in the room with you and go over any little question you may have.

I am very happy I found her!!!

Re: Ok. I know everyone loves Dr Hanauer. . . . .

I drive in from W. Babyon, and I think it is worth it. I have had some really bad doctors in the past, so when I find someone that I like and that I am comfortable with I stick with them. I had some not so great experiences in the beginning of my PG & she was there for me 24/7. If I called th service at 4am, either she or her NP got back to me quickly. There is always someone there to help if you need it.
The wait in the office can be long, but it is b/c she does not rush ANYONE. Even before PG she would spend a lot of time with me b/c I was concerned about things in my family history & such.

I go to her also. I have been seeing her since 2004 and she delivered my son in 2005. She came in to deliver my son when she wasn't even on call that day and left a family function for me. I love her and I have waited a long time at night to be seen but that is because I get the very last appt at night because I work in the city. She never rushes anyone and answers all questions and makes you feel like you are the most important patient she has ever had.
I actually look forward to go to the doctor and miss being pregnant because I don't get to see her each month. I can't wait to be pregnant with the next one and I would never switch doctors.
Dr. Dolisi is also very nice. I have only seen him twice and he almost delivered my son but Dr. Hanauer showed up in time.

Dr. Mesbah and Dr. Plancher have started covering for them as well on occasion.

no males....

But there are 2 female NP's there. I love them as well. They are very knowledgable and one of the NP's when I was having a bad time, called me 3 times in one day to check on me. I like that personalized attention.

Is Dr. Hanauers first name Jennifer? There are 2 drs listed with different addresses and I just want to make sure it is the right woman. One address is in garden city and the other in bethpage...thanks.

I believe Dr. Hanauer's husband is a neurologist that might be why there were two listings.
