ok i'm clueless.. tell me about blue ray players.
so we just bought a 52 inch sharp aquos tv. i want to buy DH a blue ray player but know nothing !!!
what is BD??
do i have to buy a sharp aquos blue ray player?
any suggestions??
what exactly do these things even do? LOL

Blu-ray players play blu-ray dvds. These dvds are much sharper and high quality sound and picture than a standard dvd, and work great with hi-def tvs. However, keep in mind that blu-ray dvds are much more expensive than regular dvds...most average about $25-35 for regular movies.
there are a bunch of different types of blu-ray players--you don't necessarily have to get the Sharp Aquos player--there are plenty of different types.
check this out on BestBuy.com and it has an FAQ about blu-ray. Blu-ray
we have a blu-ray player in our PS3--and use it and love the movies, but i wish they cost less money!

i have to politely disagree with this. the picture quality is OUTSTANDING on BluRay - really - it's night and day compared to the regular dvd - and it already beat out the competitor of HD.
For us - we got a PS3 (which IS a blu ray player) - simply put - we got the blu ray player and a video gaming system for the same price of some blu ray players....
you will also need the proper wires to ensure the best picture quality. Speak to someone at a store with GOOD knowledge of this stuff - not just the 18 year old kid ringing you up....

Does anyone know....do you need an HD TV for the Bluray to work properly.
I have a regular old TV and don't know if the it's worth getting a bluray before we get an HDTV.
