I think the important thing is to TAKE THE PAIN MEDICATION. If you are in pain you cannot heal as quickly. I learned this after my back surgery. And Drs. tend to prescribe the minimum so if it isn't enough, don't be afraid to ask for more -- it does NOT mean you will become an addict, it will just let your body concentrate on healing instead of battling pain.

Just my $0.02....

I think you're absolutely right and I was afraid to ask for more...didn't want to look "weak." I definitely plan on being doped up in May! Chat Icon

I had a 2nd degree tear, no episiotomy. The stitches were itchy but I dealt. The hospital gives you a peri bottle to fill with warm water and spray as you pee(this is the best thing ever) and they give you a lidocaine spray to help numb the area that helps as well.

this was exactly my experience as well..

I also used tuck pads and the dibucane cream as part of my aftercare. I'm 2wks post partum and physically i feel great (in fact I felt pretty good very soon after birth ... my recovery has been wonderfulChat Icon )
