ok Moms with experience
When your DC were dying to crawl so much so that every time you put them down they rolled over and started creeping/scooting, how on earth did you keep them on their backs for diaper changes. This is turning into all out civil war. She screams when I try to restrain her long enough to change her diaper or her clothes. Today I even changed her upside down (not fun) just b/c I didn't want to arm wrestle anymore. Also, is my baby the only one that has superhuman baby strength? I can't keep her from turning over once she's made up her mind. We laugh about her crazy strong she is!

Just wait to they start running away!
I give him something to distract him.. a toy, etc. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't!

I always do the toy thing. PLus it keeps their hands occupied and out of the dirty diaper. As they get older, I remember giving Andrew a toothbrush to brush his teeth while we changed his diaper.

I have a little toy that sits on top of his changing table, which is working so far.

Okay, I don't mean to laugh, but you totally made my day with this post!!! LOL!
Anyway, we used to give Michael anything and I mean ANYTHING to keep him from squirming - the remote usually did it, but then that lost his interest - then my cell phone, the regular phone, even the digital camera, lol! I didn't care what he did, I just wanted to change him without the stress of keeping him still! LOL! Thanks for the laugh though - good luck, I know it's frustrating!

Jordana LOVES to play with a diaper while I change her- so I just give her one. No toy will occupy her interest like a clean diaper. Go figure

Re: ok Moms with experience
YOu must give them something entertaining and engaging to do at that time!!!!
Benjamin loves to read his books while I put on his diaper after an evening bath. If he is too tired and annoyed by then and can't concentrate on anything, I enlist DH's help who makes funny faces at him/shows him "the magic box"(old box from his wipes) while I do the diaper magic. Word of advice: sometimes it helps to engage them with something BEFORE you actually put them down for diaper change. That way, they might not even notice the they are being changed... Sometimes I sit Benji down on our bed and give him somethign really coveted, like my sunglasses case or a securelly tightend bottle with some cream adn he goes to town and forgets to be upset when I lay him down and start doing my thing...

Re: ok Moms with experience
You do what I did, learned to change a diaper while the kid stands up. Buy some pull ups for extremely difficult times. Prepare for the toy that you have given the kid to occupy them during the diaper change to FLY back in your face, the kid will turn over, stand up, pee on the floor...
Oh the joys of motherhood!

We are going through it righ tnow, sometimes I giver her a diaper.. we have learned if she has something in her hand she is ok... she flipped the other day and got # 2 everywhere... We also give her the strap of the changing table and then just change really quick.. good luck

Ummm...yeah, it only gets worse
I try to give her toys, but a lot of times she just throws them down. Keys seem to do the trick recently, and then sometimes she doesn't mind at all...go figure!
