ok need advice from the BTDT moms on big kid beds and rooms

We've assembled a twin bed for Ellie who's 28 mos but I have Q's.

What did you do to prevent wetness (rubber sheet, mattress protector, etc.)? and where did you buy the twin size. I feel like BRU might only have them for crib size or toddler bed but not twin.

Also did/do you have curtains in their room? I have curtains but I think I may shorten them to valances b/c I'm concerned safety wise that she's going to want to play with them and/or tug on them, etc. Just curious what others did.

I bought a waterproof mattress protector from Kohls... Its not fitted though, it lays like a flat sheet.

I have vertical blinds in RJ's room with a valence, they've always been there and he doesn't touch them.

QVC.com makes a nice soft fitted waterproof mattress protector. Item number H129775. It doesn't feel like plastic and doesn't sound like plastic.

I don't think you will find anything in BRU or TRU since they don't carry twin size bedding there.

i have a waterproof cover on our mattress because DD likes to nap in our bed and sometimes leaks through her diaper

i got ours at homegoods.

i would try homegoods, marshalls, tjmaxx, bed bath and beyond...

We bought ours from Sleepy's where we bought his bed. Don't know if they'd sell you one without selling you a bed.

we bought Ella's mattress & mattress protector at JC Penney's. Bed Baath & Beyond and Linens & Things carry them.

We have blinds & valances in her room. I may still do curtains as well.

I have a water proof pad over ds's mattress I believe it was under $10 from target. As for Curtains/blinds we have those curtains that go up and down like blinds but are really thick, there is a long string but I usually just throw it over the rod so they can't reach it.

We have a waterproof mattress cover that we got from One Step Ahead.

Emily will have blinds and curtains over them. I am not really worried about he curtains since she has had them in her room since she was a baby.

Waterproof mattress cover from Target it was not expensive. Tip - Get 2 - you really need to hang them to dry.

My dh brought a mattress protector home from Sleepy's (where he works). Jared's had a few accidents and it really works.

His curtains match his bedding and I got all that at Kohls.
