Ok, seriously... what are the chances

That I'll have another collicky, fiery, diva-ish baby? I mean everyone, EVERYONE tells me, don't worry, the second will be an angel, but can I really bank on that? What's the liklihood of having two collicky/difficult/"spirited" children in a row?? HIT ME WITH HONESTY HERE!

Both my friend & my sister had #1 colicky, very sensitive babies. Their #2s are sweet angels. They don't always listen (hey none do) but the temperment is completely different.

One thing I learned by having a 2nd baby is they are usually nothing like the 1st. Also you've dealt with the shock of the fiery diva. Anything after that is a piece of cake because you've been through it.

Re: Ok, seriously... what are the chances

I think most people just like to say the opposite for the next baby.

Julia was an angel from the start, and now I hear when my next one is born he/she will be a terror, I'm like gee thanks!Chat Icon

I'm the oldest and my mom use to tell me how wonderful I was when I was a baby, and how my sister was very difficult....

I personally don't believe all that talk!

I hear you, I really do, but somewhere deep inside my brain, I'm scared that, with my luck, when #2 comes out, I'll finally realize that Alex wasn't that bad after all! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

People tell me the same thing.... I'm just hoping for the best. At least the next time around if you do (God forbid) have another colicky baby, you'll have an idea of what to do.

Re: Ok, seriously... what are the chances

My oldest was like your daughter. Still is in alot of ways and hes 4. My next was not colicky or nearly as much "work" but she's a spitfire in her own right. #3 is a pure ANGEL! Im surprised people cant actually see his halo. So I dont know about #2 but whenever I tell anyone what an angel my DS is, they always say "The 3rd usually is"

Sarah was colicky. Andy isn't, but has a milk protein allergy that's been hard to get under control and he cries a lot too. When he isn't crying he's the happiest baby I've ever seen. So it's manageable. I don't regret it at all.

NO! But, last night Dh asked me to go off the pill, so before I take the plunge, I'm pondering Chat Icon

I was going to ask if you were PG too! So you are ready to TTC #2, eh?

I say it's the opposite, so since you already have a little Diva, #2 is going to be a walk in the park. Chat Icon Unlike me who is in for a hell of a time, I'm sure, since my first is a good baby.

Not sure, no collicky babies here. However my older brother was very collicky - and my mom said I was an easy going, pleasure to be around baby. Chat Icon

It's funny, because Christopher was probably the best baby EVER, so people always joked that Kaylee would be the worst baby in the world and I'd always joke around in agreement.

Well, Kaylee was awful. I don't know if she just seemed so awful because Christopher was so good or if it was because she was actually awful. At this point (she's 3 months old), she a LOT better, but in the beginning, we were practically tearing our hair out.

I'm hoping they're slim. I guess I can't complain too much because overall Miranda really was a great baby but the AR and spit up just about sent me to the loony bin and I am praying to God I don't have another AR/spitty baby.

1st are you PG?

I dont think you will have another colicky baby. I am one of 5 and only one was like that (he was pain and he is the middle child).

Re: Ok, seriously... what are the chances

I always hear about one difficult and one easy baby, but the second one is usually the easy one. I think maybe the babies are the same but the moms are just ready the second time around...knowing what to expect, more tricks up your sleeve, etc, i'm sure Chat Icon Chat Icon will be an angel.

Re: Ok, seriously... what are the chances

Everyone I know - everyone - who has two kids, has two totally different kids. Their personalities are different, and their temperement as a baby was different. Of course, there's no scientific evidence and no guarantees, but I really don't know anyone who's had two angels or two difficult children.

Believe me I am there with you though D is really a good kid! She is just a little high maintance. But I can tell you my BF went through HELL with her first and her second was a dream. I think the first part was being a first time mom and being a little more relaxed the second time. I think another part was that the first was colicky and then second wasn't. I think the third part was the first was a girl and the second was a boy.
