OK so my granite was installed on Thursday
...and I'm afraid to put anything on it!! My husband brought home pizza the first night and as he went to put the pizza box on the countertop I screamed,"no!" and grabbed something to put underneath it. (Isn't pizza grease bad for granite?) Last night's Colombian take out was promptly put on Newsday. Can someone please tell me to get a grip and enjoy my new countertop?

If you have your granite sealed- grease, food, soda will not be a problem.

I think like the above poster said if its sealed no problem....Do not clean with harsh chemicals ..I was told wipe down with warm water.

I was working when it was installed and hubby didn't think to ask any questions. I will call tomorrow to see if they sealed it after installation. Thanks!

It is most likely sealed.
Like a previous poster said, no harsh chemicals. Absolutely no ammonia!! The granite company my FIL (kitchen designer) deals with only uses Glass Plus in their showrooms.
Oh, BTW, FYI for everyone who has granite... If a company tells you you need to get it resealed every year, it is a scam. As long as you clean it properly, granite never has to be resealed. A lot of new homeowners are falling for this scam.
