Ok, so my otherwise spirited child is possessed
I can't even begin to tell you what a horror Alex is when DH can't drop her off at school in the AM and I have to do it - it's rather embarrassing.
So, this morning, when DH told me he had an early appointment and asked for me to take her to school I was DREADING IT.
We get there at 7:30am.
She jumps out of the car, by herself, and proceeds to walk herself to class without whining "up up up mommy".
She runs into her class, says "hi pam" (her teacher), rips off her coat, and runs over to the play kitchen. Normal scenario: I put her down to take off her coat, she shrieks NO MOMMY, UP MOMMY, until I pick her up and she clings to my neck for her dear life for the next 20 minutes.
So, I was walking over to her to start "easing" my transition out, when Alex turns to me and says:
"Mommy go work now - bye bye!" She comes over, kisses me on the cheek, gives me a hug, and runs back to her toys!
What happened to my spirit-monster??? And why do I feel ever so slighted?
P.S. Pam started laughing in hysterics, she was so shocked! She turned to me and said, "leave, leave, while you can!!"

Re: Ok, so my otherwise spirited child is possessed
Every time you think you've figured them out they throw you for a loop!
I know how you feel, I always dread dropping my DD off in the morning, because she cries and wants me to stay. Then about 6 months ago she stopped crying, and for a good amount of time the drop-offs were so easy, I would say goodbye and she'd just wave to me. I know what you mean about actually being a little sad that she didn't cry when I left, since in the back of my mind it told me that she needed me! But careful what you wish for, because now almost every day she cries, I have to leave her bawling, with the teacher holding her. The only thing that helps is that they tell me a few minutes later she's fine.

Oy. Ok, I will never feel slighted again. Please, Alex, do not regress

I know, when she started up again I was so mad at myself, like I jinxed it by feeling sad that she didn't miss me anymore.
