OK, so the Nutramigen failed for us...(soy yogurt question)
I never posted this last week becuase I was busy, but the Nutramigen ended up making Ava sick and gave her the most horrible diaper rash I've ever seen. So, we're sticking to the Neocate until she's a year. I've recently decided not to question using soy products as much because there's nothing else we can give this kid. She really likes variety in her diet, and not using any soy for her when we don't even eat redmeat is leaving us limited. So, my question is, has anyone used the soy Yobaby yogurt? and if so, any side effects, does DC like it?

The first time I gave Ryan yo baby, he didn't like it, but I just tried it again last week and he likes it now. My niece used to love it too. Good luck!

Alex eats more soy products than any child I know... soy hot dogs, soy chicken fingers, soy meatballs (you get the idea ) - I've never given her soy yogurt because she doesn't have a problem with dairy (although she did as an infant), but she has never had a bad or weird reaction to any of the other soy products we give her...

Thanks Beth! I actually thought of you in the store today because I remember you saying that you give Alex soy chicken nuggets and what not, so I bought some for her to try

Do not use the YoBaby Soy - It contains traces of milk in it. I learned that the hard way.... Stony Field makes a Soy Yogurt that my DD likes. There is also another brand called WholeSoy & Co - You can get both at Stop and Shop.

Ohhh, Alex LOVES those things! What brand did you get? We love the morningstar farms... there are soy meatballs that are to die for, but not by morningstar... can't remember who makes them, but I'll let you know when I do!
I also agree with JRG71... yo baby does have traces of milk, and it also has an inordinate amount of sugar. DH buys silk plain soy yogurt, in a big container, that has no added sugar. If you add some mushed up bananas, or natural applesauce, it gives the flavor and sweetness, without all the added sugar

Re: OK, so the Nutramigen failed for us...(soy yogurt question)
So this may not be pertinent b/c my dd is only 3 1/2 months old but she has a milk allergy so Dr. put her on Nutramigen and she had a horrible reaction to it. After trying so many formulas and nothing working I decided to put her on soy (Isomil). The Dr. said that soy was highly allergic and that it probably wouldn't work.
Well, it was the only formula that worked - even though as my dr said "it doesn't make scientific sense".
Moral of the story - sometimes soy is OK

You're very lucky! Ava had a bad reaction to soy formula. Many babies that have a milk allergy also have a soy allergy. For some reason, when she had the soy formula, she was violently ill, but soy in food has **knock on wood** been ok. She had soy cheese for lunch for the first time today with tureky on a pita and you would think she was in heaven! She scarfed the whole sandwich down! And so far, so good.

We give our dd WholeSoy yogurt which she likes and tastes pretty good. I can buy it at my local Waldbaums.

My kids are not allergic to dairy, but they eat alot of soy stuff. I buy Veggie Patch meatballs and they eat them up in a second, they also love the soy nuggets and soy chicken patties. I have also made "meat" sauce with the boca crumbles and they really liked it.
