ok to not buy from baby registry?
I missed the boat on buying a gift for my cousin's baby shower this weekend. Is it okay if I don't buy something from her registry? She doesn't know what she's having? What a good gift??? I'm looking to spend under $50

Maybe make up a little basket with a gift certificate to Target or JC Penny for some pictures, add a little frame and album.

Re: ok to not buy from baby registry?
Some of my favorite gifts (bridal or baby shower) were off registry surprises!
If she hasn't registered for Aiden + Anais swaddle blankets, they are always a favorite.
Even if she registered for a diaper bag, a nice tote for extra clothes, camera, diapers is always nice to have. A cute insulated bag comes in handy when baby gets older to pack lunches for park outings and playdates.
A cute boutique outfit or onsie/bib/burp cloth set.
Jelly Cat brand stuffed animals (bashful line especially) make great snuggly loveys.
The teeniest tiniest booties or shoes that most people never buy themselves or register for but even if you put them on your baby once, they'll be adorable one day when you realize just how tiny your baby's feet were and maybe even have them bronzed or display on a shelf in baby's room!
Oh, I got a piggy bank (after DS was born) that was a fun present! I guess at that point, he got it!
Adorable crocheted or knit hat from etsy.com, lots of vendors.
I also got this tower of tins, in different sizes, that in each one is a packet of plaster to mix and put DC's handprint in each year for 5 years. We've done two so far.
I'm a blanket junkie so I can never have too many! A nice crocheted or knit blanket or quilt would make me happy! I love handmade gifts.
Hope that gives you a start!

My favorite non-registry gifts:
1. A super cuddly baby mat (plush). Bloomingdales sells online for about $50.
2. PJS for different ages. I am always looking for more PJs.
3. Baby designer stuff I never would have bought myself.
4. Embroidered Blanket from Pottery Barn Kids.
5. Embroidered Towel from Pottery Barn Kids.
6. BuyBuyBaby Gift Cards (helped out so much)
7. Twilight Turtle

I think it is perfectly fine... as long as you give her a gift receipt. I got a couple of gifts that I don't need with no receipt so I am stuck with them.
